Consulting | New York, NY, USA | Full Time
At Globant, we dream and build Digital Journeys that matter to millions of users. We do that by leveraging engineering, design and innovation with our own industry-leading practices, like our Agile PODs and specialized Studios.
We want you to join us in creating these journeys for the biggest clients in tech, retail, travel, banking, ecommerce and media, revolutionizing and growing their core businesses while helping them (and you!) stay ahead of the curve.
Globant (www.globant.com) is a new-breed technology services provider focused on delivering innovative software solutions by leveraging emerging technologies and trends. We combine Engineering, Strategy, and Creative Design to deliver digital products that are loved by millions. Over the past 12 years, we have created a top-tier organization of over 6,000 professionals working with companies such as LinkedIn, Electronic Arts, Zynga, and Google to name just a few.
Globant's New York City office is a small, nimble, and flat team that works at the velocity of a start-up, but has the backing of a large organization. Right now, we are seeking an exceptional Senior Product Strategist to work on a major, long-term project with one of our clients in the automation engineering industry. So, if you're up for (and excited about) the challenge of transforming the products and organization of a large, public company, please read on.
The Senior Product Strategist role at Globant is a bit unique in that it requires the skills of a Strategist, Researcher, and Product Manager. An example of this would be doing the strategic analysis to identify opportunities for the company, conducting customer research to validate your analysis, working with technical teams to put your plan into action, and then implementing your go to market strategy. It is definitely a "roll up your sleeves" and hands-on kind of job and not one where presentations and documents are the sole outputs.
About the Senior Product Strategist:
First and foremost, you need to be a customer experience evangelist. You need to be able to deeply understand the customer's needs (which may be different than what they tell you) and turn those insights into products that they love.
You need to be an excellent facilitator. You'll be expected to facilitate conversations between business, technical, user experience groups as well as conversations between our client and their customers.
You need to be an excellent storyteller and be able to clearly articulate customer needs and requirements to Senior Executives as well as to other team members who are both technical and non-technical.
You need to be confident and comfortable with ambiguity. There is no rule book to follow and you need to be able to lead a large team through a complex technical and organizational challenge. In addition, we don't expect to tell you everything that you need to do in order to be successful. We'd rather give you a goal, support you, and let you determine the best way to achieve it.
You need to be confident and comfortable with technology. The client's products are highly technical and you'll be expected to be able to facilitate highly technical conversations between the client and their customers. You'll also be expected to present highly technical details to Senior Executives and at industry events.
You need to be excited about affecting large-scale organizational change. Affecting organizational change at a company with 22,000 employees has a very different set of challenges than at a company with 22, so you need to be excited about that, but also realize that it won't always be easy.
You need to be able to lead by influence and not authority. As a consultant, people won't do whatever you tell them to do just because they report to you. That said, you will be leading large teams, so you'll need to be viewed as a leader and influence the people around you.
You need to have a high level of attention to detail. This project is very complicated overlooked details can have an enormous impact on the product. Please add a note to your application to prove that you read this.
You need to be passionate about what you do. The team in New York is made up of expert Product Managers and Strategists who care very deeply about their craft and constantly strive to get better at it. They want to make the New York office the best place to do Product Management and Strategy in all of New York City and you should be excited about making that happen too.
This is a critical and highly-visible role in this project and is not appropriate for anyone who's "looking to get into Product Management or Strategy" or has "kinda done this in another role". It is for an experienced professional who is ready to take on an enormous challenge.
Our ideal Senior Product Strategist:
- Must have 5+ years of experience in Product Management at an innovative company or start-up or has worked in Strategy Consulting (ideally, both).
- Must have held the lead Strategic or Product Management role on a large (50+ people/multiple years) and complex project.
- Must have experience in conducting both quantitative and qualitative customer research.
- Must have strong experience in facilitation and leading large multidisciplinary teams.
- Must have experience working in Agile software development methodologies. You should be able to debate the pros and cons of Kanban vs. Scrum, know what Lean is, and have delivered software or services in large organizations.
- Must embrace autonomy, responsibility, and have a bias towards action. We love having people around us who recognize and act, on opportunities that arise.
- A background in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Industrial Design or Automation is highly desirable.
