Summary of the role

Purpose: We are in the initial stages of rebuilding a large enterprise-grade web application that our customers use to manage the lifecycle of digital identity assurance products, and we have a core of design-friendly developers and engineers to work alongside while taking on complex and interesting design challenges. You will help establish GlobalSign as the world’s leading cloud-based Certificate Authority by embracing and promoting data-driven user-centric principles and work practices.

You will be empowered to become a key part of a best-practice-driven product squad, working alongside other designers, researchers, product owners, engineers, cross-functional stakeholders to come up with valuable, viable, useful, and feasible solutions to hard problems. In this regard you will work with a technical product owner, product manager(s), and several product engineers, to collaboratively develop requirements in the form of user stories and provide creative user-tested design solutions.

Main job responsibilities and accountabilities

  • Work with researchers, business analysts, architects, and product owners to develop product requirements.
  • Use, develop, and document our emerging interaction design model to design clear and consistent workflows.
  • Use, develop, and document our modular design system to deliver high-quality design assets and interactive prototypes at scale.
  • Work closely with researchers to validate your design decisions with users.
  • Contribute to the development of customer-centred metrics and make these metrics the centre of your focus.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures, including but not limited to information security and acceptable use, and for undertaking mandatory in-house company training as required
  • Undertake other job responsibilities and accountabilities within the remit of the job role as and when these may arise.

Person specification

You are:

  • A creative, proactive, user-centric problem-solver.
  • Able to understand complex technical problems and design simple solutions.
  • Confident, personable, and excited about interacting with users.
  • Willing to work iteratively and openly, and to freely give and receive constructive criticism.
  • Up-to-date with UI design trends, techniques, technologies, and best practices.

You have a clear experience-based understanding of:

  • Modern product discovery methods as applied in Agile software development environments.
  • How best-practice-driven teams make user-centered metrics the center of their focus.
  • The many and various disciplines within User Experience Design and their applications.
  • The specific practices around validating design decisions by engaging directly with users.
  • How to overcome the challenges of establishing a user-centered design practice in an enterprise or B2B setting.

You must have:

  • Relevant and robust experience as a Product Designer.
  • Intermediate or expert Figma skills, to manage design libraries and to meet the interaction design and prototyping requirements of a fast-paced Agile development team.
  • A versatile design skillset that includes deep experience in one or more disciplines.
  • Strong knowledge of design and research tools.
  • A working knowledge of the React/Bootstrap frameworks and general familiarity with the capabilities and limitations of HTML, CSS, and Javascript.
  • A portfolio or other such record of the best value you have provided to companies through your design.
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
