Social Media & Marketing Internship

Job Description

Commitment: 10 - 20 hrs/week (negotiable)

Duration: 3-6 months (shortly duration with longer hours available for summer internships)

Salary: Non-Paid Internship/Credit Available

Location: San Francisco, CA (can work remotely)

Global Lives is looking for an intern who will manage Global Lives Project social media presence (blogging, Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, etc.) and develop relationships with new exhibition venues, funders, and community of existing supporters.

This intern will carefully study the content of the Global Lives Project website with an eye towards increasing ease of use and comprehensibility to general audiences. Responsibilities include:

  • Assist in creating marketing plans and managing projects across Global Lives many programs and marketing channels

  • Draft Global Lives blog posts, email newsletters and Ads for Google Adwords

  • Manage Global Lives social media channel, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Youtube and website

  • Optimize and manage reports and Google Adwords, Google Analytics and Salesforce

  • Brainstorm ideas on how to further refine Global Lives reach to audiences

  • Help at Global Lives exhibits and events according to seasonal demand.
  • Perform other administrative duties pertaining to all marketing programs

Required qualifications:

  • Flawless writing skills and the ability to craft a personable, professional tone for all public-facing communications

  • Knowledge of Adobe Indesign, Photoshop

  • Familiarity and comfort with Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and YouTube

  • Basic HTML knowledge

  • Familiarity with Salesforce a plus, but not required

Work Arrangements

  • Global Lives is open to receiving full-time and/or part-time students, as well as recent graduates.

  • Participants need to supply their own computers.

  • Regular written reports will be expected from interns documenting progress.

  • Interns will work in San Francisco, with the option for occasional remote work supported by video/teleconference meetings due to intermittent travel.
