ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Merchandising Assistant at iboats.com is an internship position where company trust and work ethic is given and expected to perform duties under supervision, adhere to iboats policies and values, and take stewardship, accountability, and leadership of category initiatives. The Merchandising Assistant works closely with the Merchandising Manager and iboats management for proper communication, buy-in and approvals of projects, demonstrating initiative and drive to foster growth and profit for iboats. The Merchandising Assistant performs these and other functions where high levels of trust and independent thinking and judgment are applied to routine and non-routine situations.  Other duties may be assigned.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direction of the Merchandising Manager, the Merchandising Assistant is responsible for:

  • Enhancing category structure and content
  • Optimizing category and product pages for usability and SEO/SEM
  • Collecting market research information, including competitive intelligence, trends and opportunities
  • Participating in pricing and site development initiatives
  • Managing daily/weekly product fixes and bugs
  • Managing product data to ensure accurate revenue, margin and report data

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3rd or 4th year university student
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Basic understanding of ecommerce best practices
  • Ability to work effectively to meet deadlines
  • Experience in copy writing desirable, but not required
  • Ecommerce or retail experience preferred, but not required
