Chief Operating Officer   

Gastroenterology of the Rockies is a 14 physician, nine APP and two CRNA group delivering quality care to patients in their convenient Boulder County / Denver locations. Through their highly trained and experienced Gastroenterologists, medical staff, and top notch administrative team, the Practice has experienced continued growth throughout its history and is now seeking an experienced operational leader to join as the Chief Operating Officer (COO).

The COO will be a key member of the leadership team needing to offer significant strategic and administrative experience in a complex, multi-location environment, coupled with an in-depth knowledge of the business of medicine. This individual must be able to identify business opportunities, develop relationships with other hospitals in the region, support sound decisions in the development and allocation of space, and continuously streamline operational processes. In a spirit of openness and shared vision, will work with stakeholders, including physicians, management team, staff, hospital executives and key referral groups to strengthen the overarching vision of the Practice and to achieve the Practice goals.


  • Accountable for GI administrative requirements and healthcare compliance under multiple federal and state laws for operation of path lab, endoscopy centers, and provision of GI care consistent with CMS standards.

  • Develops strategic and execution plans to achieve company revenue goals and quality metrics.

  • Manage stakeholder expectations and contribute to a high level of stakeholder satisfaction.

  • Monitor patient, market and competitor activity, and provide feedback to leadership team and other company functions.

  • Manages financial information, budgets, and operating profit and oversees provider revenue generation and provider services cost analysis.

  • Continually assesses operating procedures and work flow in light of technology advancements and takes action to ensure ongoing QI.

  • Oversees Practice IT functions and ensures that IT systems are implemented across the medical operations to maximize efficiency and quality in the delivery of patient care.

  • Oversees, motivates and leads a high-performance management team and creates a culture of collaboration, success, goal achievement and personal satisfaction.

  • Manages special projects related to new Practice initiatives.

Professional Qualifications:

  • A total professional experience base of 10-15 years is required, with prior experience in a GI or related medical specialty practice platform, e.g. operation of ASCs, and has in-depth understanding of CMS requirements.

  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and have a dedication to “details” is required.

  • Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills, plus excellent organization skills.

  • A proven track record of performance, where deadlines are consistently met.

  • Detail oriented and driven to succeed.

  • Outstanding communication skills (both oral and written) with an executive presence that inspires confidence and credibility with all levels of staff, doctors and leadership.

  • Demonstrated track record in setting a strategy with ability to translate high-level, visionary thinking into executable and operational goals.

  • Proven track record in hiring, recruiting, rewarding, and motivating administrative staff and doctors, accompanied by an ability to inspire trust and organize people in a team and motivate them to work together.

An undergraduate degree in business, marketing, or a related discipline is required. An advanced degree (MBA), would be preferred but not required.


This position will be based in Louisville, Colorado
