GamesProScouts is in search of a new contract Technical Writer to assist in building a tech bible for a piece of the infrastructure focusing on windows operations.


  • Develop custom tools for various software packages such as: Maya, Substance Designer, and our proprietary software
  • Follow scripting best practices and participate in peer code reviews
  • Diagnose and improve upon existing team workflows to increase productivity
  • Assist with shader and other look development tasks, while respecting PBR guidelines
  • Troubleshoot problems and educate the team on best practices
  • Work with production and leads to complete tasks on schedule, while participating in technical and artistic problem solving discussions





  • Development experience in the game industry, preferably 2+ years working in a AAA environment
  • Tools/engine development experience using C++, C#, or JavaScript
  • Some knowledge with third party programs such as Substance Designer, Substance Painter, ZBrush, Houdini, Photoshop, Knald, XNormal, and other commonly used artist packages
  • Sound artistic judgment (composition, color, etc.) and an eye for quality
  • Basic knowledge of rigging, skinning, and animation
  • Performance optimization and debugging using profiling software for GPU and CPU



Competencies, Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of Python scripting and tool development
  • Knowledge of Maya and its systems
  • Thorough understanding of content creation – including modeling, UV layout, texture and material authoring, lighting, and world building
  • Strong awareness of factors that impact game performance and memory
  • Basic understanding of rendering techniques and PBR workflows
  • Experience writing shaders, either using a node-based graph or writing HLSL directly
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to write clear documentation
  • Attention to detail from both technical and artistic perspectives
  • Strong problem-solving and intuitive development skills
