Windows Implementation Engineer

Job Description


This position involves 2 parts:

  • Overseeing the implementation and upgrade  to Windows 10.
  • Ensuring all of the endpoints (lap tops, desk tops, handhelds, mobile devices, medical devices, etc) are compatible with the Windows 10 software.

As an implementation engineer, you will oversee and implement the Windows 10 upgrade. You will have a small team (4 people I believe) that works under you, so this would be considered a management position.  The other half of this position involves analyzing all the hardware, inventorying which pieces would not be compatible and communicating with vendors and hospital management in order to purchase replacements that have no compatibility issues. You would need to be able to effectively communicate with both your team members, as well as hospital management and c-level executives.


ITIL: Be fully aware of the ITIL processes and objectives and successfully implement and utilize these processes on a daily basis.

Leadership: Provide leadership throughout the Workspace Experience Team for all activities related to the use of the managed workspace at Saint Francis Medical Center.

Managed Workspace: Plan, develop and deploy a variety of solutions for managing and supporting managed workspace devices, including software packaging, software distribution, image management, deployment, application virtualization, OS virtualization and other relevant technologies. Track industry development of managed workspace products: interface directly and often with managed workspace experts internally and throughout higher education and other professional organizations. Recommend purchases and deployments of new managed workspace solutions.

Asset Management: Assist IT Leadership with Asset Management activities as assigned. Evaluate technology, make recommendations, coordinate with related vendors, investigate new and improved software and hardware, evaluate current and future state needs and implement as necessary.

Problem Management: Serve as third tier technical support for all managed workspace issues. Assesses and communicates the impact of problems found via reported incidents. Coordinate and lead problem analysis, initiate corrective actions and resolution and ensure customers, functional teams, and IT leadership is aware of the impact as appropriate.

Documentation: Develop all standards, processes, procedures, and workflows for managed workspace activities. Responsible for creating, maintaining, and reviewing documentation per the knowledge management policies.

Training: Develop and deliver training in managed workspace technologies to orient incoming support staff and continually improve the expertise of existing support staff.

Technology Policies: Working with IT Leadership develop and deploy a hardware and application standards policy.

Working Hours & Rotation: Remote and off-hours support is necessary for product upgrade and enhancement elevations. Additionally, all Workspace Services staff is responsible for a monthly weekend and on-call rotation.

Required/Preferred Skills

•Knowledge of ITIL processes and objectives.

•Knowledge of Windows scripting .

•Knowledge of at least one programming language.

•Ability to work in a collaborative, interdepartmental environment.

•Ability to work independently and proactively.

•Excellent oral and written skills.

•Ability to assess directional trends in information technology and to present project plans resonant with such trends.

•Ability to train personnel on new applications and utilities.

•Demonstrated expertise in Windows and Mac operating systems, hardware, server environment and applications.

•Demonstrated expertise in mobile device platforms, hardware, and applications.

•Demonstrated expertise in software packaging, software distribution, image management, deployment, application virtualization, OS virtualization and other end-user computing technologies.
