Software Product Manager (possible Director)

We are looking for a highly motivated software product manager with an engineering background who can drive mobile app development for a hot green tech start-up.

You will manage the entire software product lifecycle from strategic planning to tactical activities. The software product is a key component and you will benefit from a ground floor opportunity by joining a diverse and proven team of entrepreneurs. As we grow the day-to-day responsibilities will evolve, creating a constantly stimulating and challenging environment.

Desired Experience-Responsibilities:

  • At least 7 years of experience in software product management
  • At least 5 years of experience in implementing web and mobile applications
  • At least 2 years of experience managing software developers preferred
  • Developing functional requirements and product positioning that can be used for validation of solving the market requirements
  • Working with outsourced development by reviewing the detailed specifications to solve the functional requirements and negotiating design tradeoffs to help get development completed within market-driven timelines and budget constraints
  • Specifying market requirements for current and future products through market (internal and external) research
  • Reviewing development work in process
  • Working with the business development and operations groups to understand the product functionality and 
key benefits
  • Reviewing marketing materials
  • Working with sales on key accounts
  • Supporting the company-wide go-to-market rollout plan, working with all departments in its execution
  • Analyzing potential partner relationships for the product

  • Excellent communication skills and interaction with internal/external customers with varying 
perspectives/needs
  • Ability to understand customers’ business, needs, challenges and expectations
  • Ability to execute projects in timely way, with high quality results, and appropriate organization and planning
  • Proficiency with SQL Server and HTML as well as other Web development languages and technology
  • Demonstrable communication, management and analytical skills
  • BS in computer science (or similar area) required, MS preferred
