Outpatient Therapist (LPC,LCSW, LMSW)
Mental Health | Portsmouth, VA | Full Time and Part Time
Outpatient Therapist will complete diagnostic assessments and provide counseling services including individual, couples, family, and group counseling, and crisis intervention for individuals with mental health diagnoses, substance use diagnoses, and/or significant environmental stressors. Outpatient Therapist will utilize person centered, strengths based, evidence based treatment modalities that are delivered through individualized treatment goals.
Outpatient Therapist shall have a master’s degree in counseling or social work or doctorate in psychology from an accredited college or university. Outpatient Therapist must be a licensed mental health professional in the state of Virginia and credentialed. Outpatient Therapist must also have a minimum of one year of experience providing outpatient therapy services.
Knowledge & Skills
Outpatient Therapist must have knowledge of diagnosis, assessment, prognosis, and treatment planning of individuals experiencing mental illness. Outpatient Therapist must maintain the ability to independently apply effective therapeutic techniques and modalities, thorough understanding of psychosocial and cultural factors affecting mental health and service delivery, and a thorough understanding and application of administrative procedures related to the delivery of mental health services.
Outpatient Therapist must have the ability to provided person centered strength based treatment utilizing evidenced based treatment modalities, independently respond to crises, collaborate and seek supervision as appropriate, provide therapeutic services to adults, children, couples, families, and groups, establish and maintain effective working relationships with others as part of a multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural team, assess, treat and manage cases for an ethnically diverse population experiencing mental illness and their families, communicate effectively in writing and orally, utilize effective and efficient time management skills, and effectively utilize agency and community resources.
Performs initial and ongoing evaluations to assess diagnoses and treatment needs
Develops, implements, evaluates, and modifies treatment plans for all assigned individuals
Performs individual, family, and group counseling, and crisis intervention
Provides person centered, strength based treatment, utilizing evidenced based treatment methodologies
Serves as a clinical presence and additional liaison within the community
Is responsible for the proper and timely documentation of information required by Department of Medical Assistance Services, Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services, and Community of Change, Inc
Attends all required clinical and agency meetings
Attends all scheduled individual and group supervision
Participates in regular professional development in accordance with discipline and skill level, to include CEUs required by licensing boards
Completes all other work-related tasks assigned by the Director of Clinical Services
Completes all tasks and submits all documentation in a timely manner
Maintains professional licensure status
