About Us:

Since 2006, The Friendship Circle of Pittsburgh has engaged youth with and without special needs in building friendships, enhancing social skills, and learning about the importance of inclusion in the community. Each year, we offer more than 150 recreational programs, including Cooking Club, Sports League, Bowling League, Sunday Circle, and Creative Arts Club. We are always expanding these programs—most recently, we added a Friends on the Town Cafe for our young adult participants, as well as more opportunities for friends to help plan Friendship Circle events through Everyone Contributes. 

Summary:

 

The focus of this job is on achieving results which are aligned with the larger picture of the organization and its strategic goals. Initiative, coupled with a sense of competitive drive, and the ability to stay focused on results despite changing conditions, is the key to achieving the performance objectives of this job. Because environmental and organizational conditions change rapidly, the work involves innovation and creativity in generating ideas for quick response.

 

Decision making is focused on implementing practical, timely solutions.  The job requires getting things done quickly and handling a variety of activities. Self-assurance, and the confidence to purposely drive toward results while constantly problem-solving and engaging the commitment of others is essential. The emphasis on building rapport and relationships with individuals and groups requires an outgoing, poised and persuasive communication style.


Because the pace of the work is faster than average, the ability to learn quickly and thoroughly while continually recognizing and adapting to changing conditions is critical. The scope of the job may require effective delegation to proven people. Especially routine and repetitive details should be delegated but with responsibility for follow up and accountability for timely results.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • 1-2 years experience in programs with people with disabilities
     
  • Demonstrated skill in supervising or managing others

RESPONSIBILITIES


Below are the responsibilities that are expected for this position.

 

Tasks:

 

  • Reports to the Director of the organization.

  • Supervise the Director of Programs in terms of efficient program execution, growth and improvement.

  • Supervise the Member Coordinator in terms of maximizing member experience and attendance.

  • Supervise the Volunteer Coordinator in terms of maximizing member experience and attendance.

  • Ensure that the office environment is positive and productive by managing equal workloads, overseeing personal interactions and encouraging a strong team ethic.     Running the weekly Monday Morning meeting which overviews upcoming tasks and programs and any other issues that may arise.

  • Ensuring staff are motivated and passionate through relevant weekly inspiration and bi yearly staff trainings.

  • Hiring, placing, training and communicating with Program Staff.

  • Preparing the monthly office staff program scheduling for events.

  • Ensuring Marketing goals and timelines are met as per the marketing and PR plan.

  • Overseeing that attendance increases at a steady pace.

  • Overseeing the pods system to ensure friendships are being formed and strengthened and that all participants are happy, thriving and feel equally included.

  • Overseeing the host committees to ensure they achieve their goals of truly including participants in both the planning and executing of programs in a genuine way.

  • Ensuring the overall ideologies of the organizations are reflected in all interactions people have with the organization.

  • Oversee the growth and partnering of the Friends on the Town Program in a way that is in line with the directors and professional advisors goals for the age group.
