Freebird empowers travelers to instantly and seamlessly get back on their way when life throws a wrench into their travel plans. Combining technology, data science, and a fresh take on travel UX, we’re tackling the age-old problem of flight delays and cancellations. With Freebird, travelers have the ability to rebook their disrupted flight in less than 30 seconds -- at no additional cost. Our product immediately notifies customers of travel issues on their itineraries, helps them find the best alternative flight/route in real time, and gives them the ability to instantly book a new ticket -- for free -- in just 3 taps.
We launched in August 2015 and raised $3.5MM in seed funding from General Catalyst, Accomplice, and Slow Ventures in November 2015.
About the Role:
We’re looking for a software engineer to join our growing engineering team in Boston, MA. You’ll be working with our data scientists and Scala consultants to build and maintain Freebird’s enterprise software platform and APIs. Your time will be split between learning the in’s and out’s of our platform to build and maintain new features that our multi-million (sometimes billion dollar) travel clients will use every day!
Help develop Freebird’s enterprise software platform and API suite for B2B partner integrations
Design, create, and maintain a responsive and scalable infrastructure

Sound like you?
You’ve spent the last 1-2 years working as a full-stack or back-end developer and are looking for a big challenge to tackle
You’re fluent in Python/Ruby/Java/Haskell but have a strong interest in learning Scala
You have an insatiable curiosity and are always reading blogs or experimenting with the newest technologies in your spare time
You have a successful track record of building and shipping products in a fast-paced startup environment
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related work experience
