Summary of Position: 

Manager, Brand Merchandising – Morphe  will be responsible for driving assigned category of business from concept to sell-through, including development of product and financial strategies for the category, trend analysis, competitive market and target consumer research, concept briefing, sales budget and investment planning, distribution, pricing, profitability (GM targets), in collaboration with leadership, Planning, Inventory management, PD, Sourcing, Marketing, Education, Visual Merchandising and partnership with commercial teams to drive wholesale business. 

The ideal candidate is creative and opportunistic about driving business and building brands, has a strong business acumen and analytical skills, a passion for beauty, a well-honed customer filter, is extremely organized and hyper-engaged.  This candidate is a person who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and is comfortable navigating ambiguity.  This candidate will be a good communicator and collaborator with the ability to influence, drive towards consensus and drive the Product Lifecyle Management process for their category/categories.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ownership and accountability for category sales and profitability metrics, assortments and execution in support of overall business objectives
  • Support the development of global product strategies and financial plans, identify growth opportunities and partner cross functionally to shepherd through to implementation.
  • Lead product launch and GATE review process
  • Ownership and accountability of product lifecycle management for their category/categories.
  • Weekly, monthly, annual, seasonal and ad hoc Business performance tracking and review
  • Collaborate with PD and packaging teams to support the successful development of new products in support of brand strategies.
  • Collaborate w Planning to position investments, ensuring that smart risks are taken, businesses are protected and financial targets are met.
  • Ensure financial success of assigned category by meeting/exceeding sales targets, GM and inventory goals.
  • Develop and gain support for annual growth strategies for brand/category using sales data, competitive data, consumer feedback and market trends
  • Ongoing analysis of industry data (ex: NPD, Mintel, Trend Forecasting and other data sources) to inform and support the development of product category strategies.
  • Calendarize and oversee global launch strategies (positioning, assortment, pricing, distribution, etc.), and key franchise re-promotes. 
  • Own the accuracy and timing on the global assortment doc updates and pricing documents for assigned categories which informs the operations and sales teams on assortment builds.
  • Coordinate with the rest of the Global Brand Merchandising team on delivering to brand initiatives and vision in regards to product launches and holistic assortment.
  • Collaborate with wholesale teams on brand growth opportunities by sizing opportunities across newness, core and sku productivity.  Partner on timing and assortment for relevant campaigns and marketing opportunities.
  • Own the accuracy and timing on the global assortment doc updates and pricing documents for assigned categories which informs the operations and sales teams on assortment builds.
  • Conduct competitive global pricing analysis for new products.
  • Partner with VM to implement feature key newness and core, and updates to maintain relevant and productive instore presentations.
  • Manage Cross-functional teams thru pipeline deliverables via effective communication of seasonal strategies and maintaining alignment with onmi channel pipeline deliverables. 
  • Build robust cross-brand/cross-channel business relationships, sharing information where appropriate

 Key Working Relationships: 

Peer Brand Merchants, and cross functional partners (Planning and Inventory Management, PD, Packaging, Sourcing, Marketing, Visual Merchandising, Creative, Copy, Retail Operations, Wholesale, Social/Influencer, Education, Digital/Ecomm, People Team).

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a merchandising or brand management role, preferably in beauty
  • Strong project management skills, financial acumen and analytical ability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to adjust level of detail and tone to appropriate audience and at all levels.
  • Ability to present to all partners internally and externally
  • Ability to prioritize and manage work-load delivering outputs and meeting timelines.
  • Creative and opportunistic about driving business and building the brand
  • Strong creative instinct and analytical skill- ability to review, analyze and provide feedback to support the long-term health of the brand
  • Attention to detail.
  • Critical thinking/problem-solving – ability to identify issues, make recommendations, and meet deadlines without sacrificing quality of work.
  • Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams in a fast-moving, dynamic environment.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, and ability to leverage partnerships across a complex organization to get work done.
  • Excellent Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint, and project management skills required

Travel Requirements: Travel will be as needed for meetings and events.
