Intake Specialist

FTS (First To Serve) | Westlake/MacArthur Park Area | Full Time

Job Description

First To Serve, Inc. provides state certified and licensed substance abuse and supportive housing facilities located throughout the city of Los Angeles. First To Serve also provides Domestic Violence Housing for single women and women with children, and participates annually in the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority supported Winter Shelter Program.

Job Title: Intake Specialist

Division/Department: (FTS) First to Serve

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

The Intake Specialist will enroll all eligible program clients into appropriate program/treatment services.

Additional responsibilities are but not limited to:

  • Completes the intake and engagement process according to FTS policy and procedures

  • Meet and greet clients, guests and others to complete the referral/intake paperwork, follow up with referral source, conducts initial strengths and needs assessment, completes releases and enrollment packets

  • Assist clients with housing and outreach services

  • Evaluate clients for readiness to transition including the formulation of service plans and goals, and aid clients to implement service plans

  • Provide individual attention to each client/resident in the form of weekly case management meetings to be on a one-to-one basis

  • Provide administrative support to the Program Manager or HMIS (as needed)

  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures

  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Speak, write and read fluently in English. Bilingual a plus

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including being approachable to connect with people, the capacity to listen sincerely and demonstrate empathy

  • Ability to establish effective working relationship with staff, community agencies and clients

  • Ability to recognize and be sensitive to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability and genetic information

  • Ability to safely perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodations

  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service to internal and external clients

  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
