Test Engineer - Our client, a long time leader in hard drive technology is looking for a test engineer that is focused on product usability.

Job Description: o Manage and coordinate the efforts of the Platform Engineering group. o Provide QA/Test support as a Test Engineer that is focused on the usability of the product. o Run worldwide beta programs. o Provide guidance and testing for documentation, PR and technical support when needed. o Responsible for 3rd party Hardware and Software Compatibility. o Support business-aligned customers and/or key partner assignments in Consumer Electronics. and/or Enterprise market segments. o Functions as the internal advocate for assigned customers and partners with the goal of ensuring first time right qualifications. o The range of responsibilities include:  Understanding and driving customer requirements into the design and development process.  Meticulous interaction with field teams and customers before and during qualification activities.  Tracking and maintaining account specific requirements and documentation.  Driving acceptance criteria for qualification activities with the customer. Analysis of test reports and failure analysis on returned products.  Driving recommended corrective action adoption, and preparing documentation for inspection and testing procedures.

Job Requirements: B.S. + 8 or more yrs experience, or MS + 6 or more yrs related experience, or PhD + 4 or more yrs related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Advanced knowledge of disk drives including IDE, SATA, SAS, FC and SCSI interfaces.  Highly skilled at building and testing home networking environments.  Skilled at communicating with cross-functional teams within WD and with customer teams .  Ability to drive joint qualification and failure analysis activities with major OEM customers.  Ability to proactively drive the analysis of new customer hard-drive applications and commodities.  Related disk drive experience in an applications support function highly desired.  Experience using state-of-the-art test hardware and software.  Basic understanding of quality assurance processes and statistical tools as typically applied at quality and reliability test operations.  Intermediate to advanced ability to use Excel and statistical software package, standard engineering bench tools and specialized engineering and testing hardware, software and equipment.  Strong ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as scientific and technical journals, instructions and reports.  Ability to write complex reports, business correspondence, and technical instructions using good grammar, punctuation and spelling.  Effectively deliver formal presentations to customers and internal teams.  Effectively deliver formal presentations to customers and internal teams.  Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra and advanced statistical theory.  Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.  Able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in written, mathematical or diagram form.  Strong knowledge of principles of logical or scientific thinking.  Ability to understand and apply nonverbal symbolism formulas, equations, graphs .
