We are looking for an experienced Apparel Design Lead who will be involved with the internal design process from concept to production. This position is crucial to our success as a company and will be responsible for leading our design process to create seasonal collections consistent with the Evy’s Tree brand. This role will work with the creative team to conceptualize original product design through mood boards, flats and illustrations as well as drive product through follow-up and collaboration with all internal cross-functional teams in merchandising, development, sales, and marketing. This person will be responsible for overseeing fittings, tech packs, sales meetings, line prep, style development & execution, and special project preparation.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with a design team and will be comfortable both leading and collaborating with creative and technical teams as well as marketing and sales. The ability to lead a team, execute product and deliver it to production in a timely manner and pivot accordingly to pull product up to meet sales goals is a must. This role will bring the design team together concepts and trends and elevate the Evy’s Tree brand. The candidate will also be comfortable working in a startup environment with the ability to wear multiple hats to implement and execute strategic initiatives. 

What You Will Do

  • Research market trends and create innovative product designs that advance Evy’s Tree’s design image, product performance and appeal to targeted consumers
  • Set overall design vision and aesthetic with Corporate Creative Lead in monthly vision and design meetings
  • Make sure product collections are appropriately merchandised with the right balance of products to achieve sales goals

  • Ensure total landed cost of product meets overall company financial trends and inventory goals

  • Place purchase orders with factories and communicate/present purchase ordering needs with our financial department

  • Responsible for carrying out and overseeing the design vision created with corporate to the team from rough sketches to completion of tech packs

  • Responsible for all material selection, color details, all styling details, and developing {or working with our graphic team} to develop graphic artwork for branding and packaging

  • Responsible for approvals on color, fabric, trim, art, branding & finishing

  • Create visual presentations and follow up with all design details to the corporate lead and marketing sales department.

  • Participate in fitting garments and review product details to ensure product execution meets the design aesthetics as well as commercially acceptable quality standards

  • Lead and own the design team, merchandisers and developers from the moment of concept production to final production handoff to ensure the designs are executed correctly

  • Lead the production team in partnership with the sales team to meet sales goals and pivot with production when needed

  • Review all details on prototypes with designers, merchandisers and developers. Own responsibility with the merchandising team for final product result

  • Adhere to calendar & manage the design team to meet company due dates

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of design experience in women's apparel. Experience with hoodies and pants preferred.

  • Must have strong leadership qualities and ability to work through ambiguity

  • Able to create a positive team environment and foster creativity

  • Able to create and execute strong plans to meet company goals & initiatives

  • Must be able to deliver on company calendar deadlines

  • Strong ability to identify issues and problem solving skills

  • Ability to take direction from sales team and merchandising team to create incremental business

  • Must have a strong understanding of garment construction and fabric types

  • Ability to communicate with vendors required

  • Strong sense of color, print/pattern, design, and trend

  • Ability to develop and present product presentations for large groups

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective cross-functional relationships within a team environment

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills

  • Highly developed organization and time management skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail

  • Confidence to work with others in a creative environment

  • Mac design experience in Adobe Creative Suite - Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign

Work Environment: Hybrid flexibility (combination of remote and onsite)
