Electronics Technician

Job Description


ETM Electromatic, located in Newark, California, is seeking Electronic Technicians. We have several openings requiring a variety of skills, including: testing high power amplifiers and other high voltage/high power devices; troubleshooting technical problems in coordination with our engineering staff; managing a testing schedule for a product line; troubleshooting and repairing electronic sub-assemblies and modules to the component level; and/or testing, debugging and repairing a variety of electronic instruments and subsystems using work instructions and schematics.

In order to succeed as one of our technicians, you will need to be technically proficient, familiar with Microsoft Excel, familiar with Agile or an equivalent document management system, detail oriented, self-motivated and able to manage a complex production schedule with multiple commitments.  You must have an Associate’s Degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering, and 2-5 years of experience.

We are currently seeking Technicians whose history and skills satisfy the requirements in at least one of these three categories:

General Technicians

  • Proficient with multi-meters, high voltage power supplies, oscilloscopes, pulse generators and variacs
  • Able to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, work instructions, mechanical drawings and Engineering Change Orders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, utilized in working with engineers to troubleshoot and problem solve

Module Technicians

  • 3-5 years' experience in functional testing, debugging and repair of Printed Circuit Board based assemblies to the component level
  • Able to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, work instructions, mechanical drawings and Engineering Change Orders
  • Experience soldering surface mount and through-hole electronics components, and basic failure analysis

RF Technicians

  • Experience with high voltage and power supply or RF testing
  • Proficient in use of spectrum analyzer and vector network analyzer, as well as with multi-meters, power supplies, oscilloscopes, pulse generators and variacs
  • Experience with high level troubleshooting and consulting with engineers
