Bring your fresh ideas and passion for design and development to a flourishing and emerging organization as Episource’s Staff Software Engineer. As our Staff Software Engineer, you will report to Episource’s Manager, Data Engineering. This is a remote, full-time, work-from-home position.

How you will make an impact at Episource:

  • Showcase your meticulous eye for detail. Lead and contribute to our service-driven platform's design, development, and expansion. Build upon Episource’s platform, implement new functionality in existing services, and build new services from scratch.
  • Collaborate and communicate. Leverage your dynamic communication skills and express your energetic and ambitious ideas and concepts to fellow teammates, stakeholders, and internal leaders - ultimately fostering a security-first culture throughout the team. 
  • Serve as a software design SME. Design, document, and build scalable solutions for complex problems using best practices. Influence other team members with your robust coding skills. Perform peer code reviews, elevating the team to success.

 What your journey at Episource will look like: 

  • In the first three months, you will be a key contributor to your team and begin understanding the department's processes.
  • In the first six months, you will actively participate in cross-functional discussions and decision-making.
  • By the end of your first year at Episource, you will lead technical initiatives. You will work with team leads and other staff+ engineers across the department to establish sound development processes.

 What you will bring to Episource: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Strong experience in technical leadership and ownership of software components and code bases.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Expertise in RDBMS data modeling and query optimization in systems such as (but not limited to) PostgresSQL, Snowflake, Mysql, etc.
  • Experience designing systems, including a good understanding of the landscape of monolithic and microservice architectures and the ability to evaluate and identify tradeoffs in architectural decisions 
  • Working knowledge of highly scalable distributed and cloud-native databases
  • Strong experience in Python
  • Experience in standard Git workflow and working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines to automate testing and deploys
  • Experience building test suites and using test frameworks
  • Nice to have some experience in Apache Kafka, Kubernetes, and Terraform
