Job Summary:

Senior Software engineers are teachers and force multipliers on the team. You will be a key contributor to the design and development of the Episource Analytics applications and will work closely with other senior engineers in the department to develop best-in-class software solutions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for the development and continuous improvement of the Episource Analytics applications. You will work with the Team Lead, other senior engineers, and product owners to design system components that meet business needs.

  • Produces code that is clear/simple, modular, loosely coupled, of low complexity, cleanly documented, meets requirements and is testable.

  • Frequently contributes to and reviews code in important, core and complex components and frameworks.

  • Demonstrates strong ability and influences others to choose proper off the shelf software frameworks and libraries when needed.

  • Guides the team in anticipation of future use cases and helps them make design decisions that minimize the cost of future changes.

  • Understands the testing philosophy and approach, writes unit tests as well as higher level tests. Uses quality metrics to identify gaps.

  • Designs, documents, and builds simple and scalable solutions for complex problems with elegant and reusable architectures resulting in modular services, functions, or workflows that are resilient, maintainable, easy to monitor and pioneer best practices for engineers.

  • Actively looks for security vulnerabilities both in the code and when providing peer reviews. Builds and designs secure end to end systems. Can recognize obscure security threats that go unnoticed to others.

  • Complex understanding of the team's domain, as well as other teams, and how it contributes to overall business strategy. Regularly participates in the creation of the team roadmap and ensuing feedback.

  • Simplifies product and technical design through proactive conversations.

  • Understands and acts according to task prioritization. Delivers on commitments with a sense of urgency. Escalates any blockers and delays to their team daily. Notes dependencies.

  • Communicates effectively, clearly, and concisely in written and verbal form.

  • Actively seeks out feedback from their teammates and manager, and works to use feedback that they receive as a tool for growth.

  • Openly shares opinions and contributes to discussions in a respectful manner.

  • Approaches conflict non-defensively with inquisitiveness.

  • Proactively updates stakeholders when resolving defects following SLAs and defined communication channels.

  • Seeks out mentorship to grow their own experience. Proactively provides 1:1 mentorship in an open, respectful, and empathetic manner.

  • Requires an individual to maintain the ability to work in an environment with PHI / PII data

  • May be assigned other duties.

  • Must maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of experience in web application development.

  • Bachelor’s of Computer Science, or equivalent combination of education and experience, professional certification preferred.

  • Must have working knowledge of design patterns/anti patterns.

  • Must have working knowledge of microservices architectures.

  • Must have working knowledge of highly scalable distributed and cloud native databases.

  • Must be proficient at building applications with TypeScript or another modern C-style language.

  • Must have excellent verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.

  • Good working knowledge of .NET, React, Node.js, GraphQL, SQL, and modern CI/CD pipelines.

  • Nice to have working knowledge of event driven and cloud architectures.

  • Nice to have experience with event sourcing tooling like AWS Kinesis or Apache Kafka.

  • High level of ethic, integrity, discretion, and confidentiality.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting productivity standards.

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.

  • Must be able to talk, listen, speak and view regularly

  • 5% of domestic and/ or international travel to customer sites/plants, etc.

Working Conditions:

  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment.

  • Requires prolonged sitting, some standing, some bending, stooping and stretching, requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard, photocopier, telephone, and other office equipment.

  • Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.

  • Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required when in a clinical setting

  • 5% domestic travel. Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out of the area and overnight travel is to be expected.

Salary Range (or rate): 4800/month
Pay is based on several factors, including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, location, and other relevant factors. This is Episource’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position as of the time of posting.
