The Entertainment District... located in Downtown Kalamazoo offers nightlife, concerts, private parties, special events and destination weddings. We are focused on creating a big city experience with incredible facilities, first class service, amazing food, and high energy entertainment.
We are looking for an exceptional individual to join our private events team and help create an amazing guest experience through planning and teamwork!
The event planner organizes and facilitates special events, large gatherings, and functions that are often of a celebratory nature. The most important skill of the events planner is organization. To do this job well, the event planner must be able to set up events that may be attended by as few as 10 people or as many as thousands. They need to be able to make smart decisions on the needs for food, beverages and all other needs to suit the occasion. Each event may have its own needs and requirements and it is up to the planner to ensure that a schedule is drawn up and followed. It is also important for an event planner to be skilled in up-selling services to existing clients through menu tasting and planning meetings.
Create an exceptional guest experience, from planning to event day
Work closely with clients
Plan events from beginning to finish with accuracy of details
Supervise events and execute plan
Submit reports, create schedules, and fill out activity logs
Utilize software & spreadsheets to manage activities
Uphold company mission, policies and processes
Effectively complete all event related documentation
Adhere to payment and collection schedule
Schedule tastings and client meetings
Maintenance and completion of packets and tools
Desire to be in the event & wedding industry long term.
Great attitude & professional appearance.
Ability to utilize technology based platforms
Proven event planning experience
Event planning certifications preferred
Positive work history
3 yr commitment - 6 wk notice
Live with 15 miles of Kalamazoo, MI
Ability & desire to work on the weekends
50+ hours per week
Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday - 9am to 5pm
Friday/Saturday - 10am to 9pm ( weekend events & hours vary by season and event schedule )
Sun/Mon - off (most of the time)
