Senior Analytics Engineer

Product | New York, NY | Full Time | From $150,000.00 to $250,000.00 per year

Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Analytics Engineer to join our data product team, contributing to our core company vision. Their focus is on developing products that merge multiple public and proprietary data sources to measure economic trends and consumer activity in near-real time. These products offer valuable insights for data-driven decisions, such as investment strategies, competitive intelligence, and economic policies, across various industries.

What you will do:

  • Be a senior member of the product team to design and develop derivative data products
  • Own the end-to-end process of planning and releasing customer-facing datasets
  • Regularly interact with customers to inform our product roadmap and gather feedback on existing data products
  • Work closely with the marketing team to support go-to-market (GTM) strategies, including communicating customer use cases and assisting with demos
  • Work with a variety of data sources to create derived data products that address business questions ( involves developing data pipelines using SQL and Python in dbt)

Who you are:

  • 4+ years of experience working in analytics engineering, data science, or other highly analytical, data-oriented roles
  • Commercially-minded, pragmatic analytics engineer with a keen interest in the core development of data products
  • Proficient in SQL and dbt within a cloud data warehouse environment (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift). Python (or R) experience is highly desirable
  • Experienced in working with multiple external datasets, including cleaning, merging, and manipulating data. Experience with public data sources (e.g., US Census, ACS Survey) is a big plus
  • Enjoy writing code and applying critical thinking to use data in solving real-world business problems across different industries
  • Naturally curious, with a drive to understand the “why” behind data and an acute sense for identifying potential data quality issues

What you get out of it:

  • You will be “front-office” in helping build products that generate revenue directly
  • Opportunity to influence our client's product and technology decisions and take ownership of product design methodologies.
  • A fast-moving culture with substantial responsibility and autonomy from day one
  • Collaborate and learn from a very dynamic and motivated team in an in-office work environment
