What You’re Applying For:

The Director of Corporate Strategy will work independently and in conjunction with the VP of Corporate Strategy to develop and drive the long-term strategic vision of Edmunds, launch cross-functional strategic initiatives, and evaluate new opportunities for Edmunds to determine size, attractiveness and fit with the company's goals.  In addition, the Director will partner with the VP and others across the organization to identify and address needs within the business and build broader strategy muscle across the company.  Ultimately, the Director is responsible for evaluating, launching and supporting Edmunds' business to help achieve sustainable and scalable growth.

What You’ll Do:

  • In concert with the VP, Corporate Strategy work with executives and top business leaders to develop the long-term strategy for Edmunds and translate this into effective and actionable strategies for the business
  • Work with the VP, Corporate Strategy to create a repeatable and effective corporate strategy process
  • Drive the implementation of key strategic initiatives, including development of roadmaps, support processes, and organizational requirements
  • Act as a thought partner to the executives and business leaders of the company to help provide a strategic perspective on critical questions, e.g. sales strategy, marketing approach, new business lines and products
  • Work with Analytics, Data Science, Research, and the rest of the strategy team to lead and conduct analyses to identify opportunities and support the strategic initiatives recommended
  • Evaluate and size ad-hoc opportunities either identified by business partners or external parties
  • Work with others on the Strategy team to evaluate potential acquisition opportunities
  • Build and maintain knowledge of key trends in the automotive and tech industries, as well competitive positioning, to inform and shape Edmunds' positioning in the market and strategic initiatives
  • Assess company and organizational performance systematically to identify cross-functional and capability gaps to achieve business objectives
  • Work closely with the HR team to ensure that organizational structure and talent practices are clearly linked to business strategies
  • Coach and develop more junior Strategy team members

What You Need:

  • 8-10 years of strategy experience, with at least 3 years in Management Consulting or a top-tier strategy department
  • MBA from a top US or international program
  • Superior analytics skills and attention to detail
  • Strong executive presence and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Relevant experience working with a company new to strategy to develop and build their own vision and goals
  • Ability to translate vision, trends, and opportunities into effective and executable strategies
  • Courage to stand up for own perspective, even when it may not be the most common opinion
  • Entrepreneurial and proactive approach, with desire to shape own role
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with range of people with different styles, backgrounds, and experiences
  • Established ability to influence decision makers to think strategically and critically
  • History of being a team player who quickly builds trust and credibility through relationships
  • Experience directly managing a report as well as leading teams without formal authority
  • Tech or automotive experience preferred
