Job Description

Position Profile - Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Eagle Protect

October 2020

Every day, it’s likely that every American will come in contact with or consume food handled by disposable gloves. 7.6 million Americans per year are sickened by a foodborne illness where disposable gloves are the cause. Bacterial and fungal contamination of glove surfaces from poor glove manufacturing standards; undetected glove punctures which lead to tens of thousands of bacteria being released from moist internal glove surfaces (glove juice); and toxic chemical migration to food from cheap raw materials are some of the issues the food industry and consumers face due to cheap disposable gloves.

The US uses 228,000 disposable gloves every minute. If society does not have safety gloves the foodservice industry, medical industry and more halt. Disposable gloves are a necessity not a commodity.

Eagle Protect has been developing best practices for food safety and social good since 2006. The company is well positioned to grow in this unique moment during the global pandemic. With US Headquarters in South Lake Tahoe Ca. Eagle Protect is a multi-national company engaged in the sourcing, certification, and distribution of food safety and personal protective equipment. The company has been in operation for 14 years, originally in New Zealand, and expanded to the US in 2016.

Eagle Protect a rapidly growing innovative  B-Corp  PPE provider enhancing the safety and performance of disposable protection products for Costco, CINTAS, Cargill, Tyson Foods and many others worldwide. The company does this by supplying uniquely certified, high-quality, ethically sourced disposable gloves and clothing.

The pre Covid US market for disposable gloves in the food industry is estimated at US$1.5b per annum. The global pandemic has created PPE shortages due to manufacturing supply and shipping logistics, as manufacturing has historically been concentrated in Southeast Asia.  Post-pandemic, there is an expectation that the baseline level of PPE required will have permanently increased. Therefore, this is an immense growth opportunity for companies that can deliver and manage customers both in the short-term and long-term.
