About the Job
The Medical Director - Primary Care will provide national oversight of clinical care, professional development and practice administration and operations for the Doctor On Demand Primary Care Practice. The Medical Director is responsible to supervise all clinical staff dedicated to primary care and patient centered medical home responsibilities.
Clinical Care - the right candidate will display exemplary levels of professionalism and clinical quality in all dealings with patients, maintains a safe, diverse, inclusive and equitable patient care work environment for patients and staff, completes charting and documentation in timely manner. 20% of role will remain in direct patient care.
Clinical Quality (QA/QI) - contributes to annual QA/QI planning committee work and attends meetings working both collaboratively and individually on QA/QI initiatives, suggests quality enhancements to patient/clinician applications, provides feedback to colleagues across regions to promote safety and adherence to treatment guidelines, leads peer review and case conference, reviews 1-2 star rated cases, develops clinical guidelines, develops primary care clinical dashboard and performance standards, establishes attribution of patient panels, interviews / trains new clinicians, monitors documentation completion for colleagues and performs performance reviews for clinician colleagues; responsible for the implementation and and operations of innovative home based primary care delivery including medical device integration, remote patient monitoring programs and chronic disease management, provide QA/QI process for primary care clinical outcomes.
Communication - leads/organizes clinical practice huddles, attends and leads Clinical Committee meetings, communicates effectively and collegially with clinician colleagues and staff, including Medical Directors/CMO, reports ethical, professional and moral concerns to Quality Review Committee for review, resolves conflicts among staff, responds to clinical escalations with staff and patients.
Business Development - performs demonstrations of Doctor On Demand Applications to support sales and business development teams, conducts television integrations periodically, supports marketing efforts, establishes leads when appropriate; develops clinical strategy in pursuit of PCMH look-alike practice model including care team integration, collaborative care models and subspecialty care; explores creative value based care reimbursement models and medicare Part B and fee for service practice compensation opportunities.
Professional Development - mentors clinical and non-clinical colleagues, promotes safe learning and practice environment, exhibits feedback skills, identifies learning issues for self, medical director and practice colleagues, works with multi-disciplinary staff in collaborative environment and ensures same from physician colleagues, promotes equity, inclusion and diversity in all aspects of workforce development and management, manages up to Medical Director and CMO with feedback, helps colleagues set goals/establish SMART objectives, reviews colleagues personal/professional growth.
Other Administrative Tasks - MD-PC will perform other administrative duties on an as needed basis, but when possible will prioritize clinical work if major conflicts arise. MD-PC will share open communication with practice and corporate leadership including Medical Directors, CMO, CEO, General Counsel, Clinical Operations Leads, etc to report issues of misconduct, philanthropy or outstanding merit. Develops primary care clinical outcomes and goals; Responsible for recruiting, interviewing and hiring physician and non-physician clinical staff.
Adhere to legal and ethical requirements and company policies and procedures.
Ability to perform multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to perform job functions independently.
Must have excellent triage capabilities.
Keep up-to-date with medical developments, treatment and medications.
Education and Experience:
Active ABMS or AOA Board Certification.
Active and unrestricted state medical license in at least one state.
Not under current exclusion or sanction by any state or federal health care program, including Medicare or Medicaid, and is not identified as an “excluded person” by the Office of Inspector General of the Department of Health and Human Services or the General Service Administration (GSA), or reprimanded or sanctioned by Medicare.
Must maintain Medicare active status.
Completion of U.S. Medical Licensing Examination
