Health Plan Solutions Architect

Job Description

The Health Plan Solutions Architect is an individual contributor role responsible for selling the Doctor On Demand telemedicine solutions.  This position is also responsible for leading advanced discussions around health plan strategy, design and reimbursement models. The incumbent will collaborate internally with Engineering, Operations, Clinical, Legal, Implementation, Enterprise Support and others to structure innovative health delivery models and programs that promote the core integrated technical and clinical programs and  product offerings of Doctor On Demand. The HPSA will also collaborate externally with health plan and other large payers to establish mutually beneficial care delivery models that promote value based health care delivery models. The goals and objectives of the HPSA will be achieved through the context of a national video based virtual medical practice. goals around telemedicine. This role is also responsible for working with health plans to identify new sales opportunities and closing deals within the health plan sales vertical


The Health Plan Solutions Architect will be responsible for the following:

  • High proficiency explaining the Doctor on Demand technology and demonstrating the product

  • Understand competitor’s environment and how we differentiate our solutions

  • SME for health plan internal and external needs for internal resources, clients and members

  • Work with health plans and Doctor On Demand to continue to grow and become an expert on the telehealth/telemedicine environment and work in a fast paced, changing environment

  • Ability to speak and present to the health plan executive leadership team a strategic vision that is customized to the health plan needs

  • Work collaboratively within Doctor On Demand to provide health plan feedback and input for future products and positioning

  • Contribute to the sales process by responding to proposals and identifying solution options

  • Provide sales and the client / prospect with technical and business support and guidance throughout the pre sales and solution scoping process

  • Assist with the creation and execution of the overall strategy for prospects

  • Ensure the proposed solution is consistent and validated against the product functionality and desired client launch time

  • Support Product in defining best practices and recommended solutions; keeping up to date with extensive knowledge of all Doctor On Demand products offered

  • Transition the client from sales to implementation; ensuring all Service Level Agreement are in line with commitments and advising on and / or documenting details for complex solutions

  • Work with Doctor On demand health plan partners to architect innovative solutions that create valuable new user experiences

  • Drive new solutions development from start to finish - develop requirements, work cross-functionally with vertical teams and engineering / design / product teams, analyze results and synthesize learnings

  • Work with partner teams to test, operate, and refine solutions as appropriate over time

  • Exhibit sound product judgement and present clear measurable objectives that will lead to achieving business goals


Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of health plan landscape, including purchasing and budget processes (and timelines) for health plans

  • Excellent relationships in the health plan market and ability to leverage these for health plan sales

  • Strong ability to manage a pipeline

  • Ability to negotiate contracts and terms, with the support of sales leadership and legal, through complicated contract process

  • Excellent technology skills

  • Orientation and philosophical leaning toward wellness and wellbeing

  • Excellent communication skills including presenting, speaking, writing, and follow up

  • Outstanding organizational skills

  • Superior presentation and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated trend of increasing sales through outstanding sales results and leadership

  • Ability to drive strategic conversations  in a changing market, such as telehealth solutions

  • Ability to work remotely as a field based employee

  • Documented expert in health plans and telemedicine
