Distributed Sun (DSUN) is a clean energy infrastructure provider founded in 2009 that develops, finances, owns, and operates solar and battery storage projects across the community solar, commercial and industrial (C&I), and utility-scale markets. It is among the largest community solar developers in the country and has developed and delivered systems in 17 states.
About the Role
truCurrent is seeking a Policy and Incentives Manager who can work with policymakers, regulators, industry associations and coalitions, and related stakeholders at the federal, state, local, and utility level to identify and capitalize on policies supporting truCurrent’s decarbonization strategies for its customers. The ideal candidate possesses a versatile skillset, including strong research, analysis, critical thinking, and communication abilities, and is well versed in current and emerging policies, regulations, and incentive programs covering clean energy technologies such as electric vehicles (EVs) and related charging infrastructure (EVSE), battery energy storage systems (BESS), solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, microgrids, and virtual power plants (VPPs).
Responsibilities
- Identify and prioritize federal, state, local, and utility-specific grant and incentive opportunities for EVs, EVSE, PV, BESS, microgrids, and VPPs, keeping track of application requirements and deadlines to support truCurrent projects
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis of clean energy policies, grants, incentives, and regulations at federal, state, and local levels to assess the impact on truCurrent projects, identify and evaluate market opportunities, and provide strategic recommendations to senior management
- Develop and maintain a list of relevant government, industry, environmental, and other related working groups and task forces that can further the goals of truCurrent and its customers and engage as needed to drive results
- Ensure the development and construction of truCurrent projects are compliant with relevant regulations, policies, and funding program requirements
- Support project development processes including customer engagement and risk management by seamlessly integrating policy insights into project planning and execution
- Prepare and present comprehensive policy reports and presentations to internal and external audiences, including customers, executive leadership, and other stakeholders
- Coordinate efforts with other internal teams, including Marketing, Sales, and Finance, to ensure consistent messaging and alignment with business objectives
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in communications, public or environmental policy, political science, or a related field is required
- 7+ years of experience in clean energy policy, including experience working directly with policymakers and writing successful grants and incentive applications
- A proven track record of monitoring dynamic policy landscapes and delivering actionable insights to internal and external stakeholders
- Private sector, nonprofit, or government experience in transportation is highly preferred
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage multiple tasks effectively
- Expertise in the Microsoft Office Suite and experience with policy analysis tools
- Strong analytical, writing, project management, and presentation skills
