Marketing and Community Outreach Manager (Part time)

Marketing | New York, NY | Part Time

Job Description

About Us:

Devpost's website helps software engineers find jobs and participate in software competitions called hackathons. Organizations run online and in-person hackathons to market their tools and initiatives to developers. We power most of the world’s hackathons, and have great customers including Amazon, Facebook, Atlassian, Intel, Cisco, Microsoft, Red Hat, and many others.

We are fortunate that we do both well and good, meaning we have a great business and we make an impact. We have a superb team and culture centered around continuous improvement. Our employees are empowered to take ownership and make decisions in line with our metrics and mission. That mission -- to help developers find fulfilling work -- is firmly rooted in the belief that technology can bring about important change and improve lives.

Description:

We are seeking a part-time marketing and community outreach manager -- we know, long title :) -- to drive participation in our online hackathons. The marketing and community outreach manager will execute marketing objectives for our clients and competitions, to motivate software developers to enter the hackathons and build something great.

The right candidate will learn how to discover and reach developers and seek to constantly refine their marketing/research tactics. You are able to work remotely or out of our NYC office.

Responsibilities:

  • Create marketing materials and write compelling copy

  • Research, compile, and maintain marketing contacts and lists

  • Reach out to developers and developer community influencers about hackathons

  • Track marketing efforts and report results to the project manager and team

You:

  • Are interested in marketing, technology, and community management

  • Excel at doing lead research

  • Have excellent writing and communication skills

  • Are able to self-direct and refine your tactics and processes

  • Are extremely reliable, organized, and have a great work ethic

Compensation and hours:

Compensation is a fair hourly rate. We expect the work to take between 15 and 20 hours per week, and those hours can be chosen at your convenience as long as the work is done and we receive regular reports. If things go well, we can potentially expand the role and hours.

If interested, please include a resume and short note about why you might be uniquely qualified for this specific position.
