About the role:
The Developer Marketing Manager is responsible for growing and engaging Devpost’s developer community across social media, Discord, email, and external developer communities. This role is focused on building Devpost’s brand, increasing hackathon registrations, and fostering community by scaling our presence on existing channels (LinkedIn, Discord, X/Twitter) and experimenting with new ones (Instagram, TikTok). The ideal candidate has a technical background and understands the developer mindset, allowing them to create authentic, engaging content, including short-form video that resonates with our audience.
Responsibilities:
Hackathon Promotion & Community Engagement
Drive hackathon registrations and participation through strategic, multi-channel marketing efforts, including email campaigns (utilizing Customer.io), social media (LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Instagram, TikTok), and the Devpost Discord community.
Build and scale Devpost’s social media presence with a focus on brand growth, community building, and driving registrations—particularly on LinkedIn, Discord, and new platforms like Instagram and TikTok.
Promote Devpost and our hackathons to external developer communities, including Meetup groups, influencers, university professors, and relevant online forums.
Develop and execute marketing plans for Devpost's public hackathons, ensuring campaigns reach the right developer audiences and meet registration and submission goals.
Create engaging, high-performing content for developers, including short-form videos, social posts, developer success stories, and hackathon highlights.
Foster a vibrant and engaged developer community within Devpost Discord and across social platforms through active moderation, engagement initiatives (AMAs, challenges), and content creation.
Analyze campaign performance and community metrics to optimize marketing strategies and improve overall engagement and hackathon success.
Requirements:
2-5 years of experience of success in community management, social media marketing, or email marketing, ideally in a developer-focused or tech environment.
A strong understanding of technology and the developer mindset, with the ability to speak credibly to a technical audience.
Excellent copywriting and multimedia content creation skills—including experience creating short-form video for social platforms.
Demonstrated success growing brand presence and engagement on social media.
A data-driven mindset with the ability to track, analyze, and optimize marketing efforts to drive tangible results.
Experience managing and growing communities on Discord and/or Reddit.
Familiarity with project and content management tools (e.g., ClickUp, Hootsuite) and basic design/video editing tools (e.g., Canva, Figma).
Bonus Points:
Experience working in developer relations, tech communities, or developer marketing including with hackathons.
Knowledge of analytics tools (GA4, Mixpanel, etc.) to measure campaign impact.
