Strategic Business Manager

Global Accounts SB-M | Remote in Milwaukie, OR | Full Time

Job Description

Position Overview:

The Strategic Business Manager owns one or more Strategic or Global Accounts — client organizations with scaled facilities and unified network and system needs. This carries a personal revenue target tied to those accounts. The account team led by this role fully represents the customer inside the company: it develops the account, owns the sales process, and is accountable for the quality of everything delivered against it, executing installation and service through the account's engineering and dedicated division technical groups in USA and EU.

Scope scales with account size and complexity: a single large account may be a full-time focus, while multiple smaller accounts may be grouped under one Strategic Business Manager. This role reports directly to the Director or VP, Global & Strategic Accounts, and leads its account team's Account Executive or Account Manager, Administrator, Project Manager/Coordinator, and Systems Technician.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Account Ownership & Customer Representation:

  • Fully represent the customer inside the company, own the account's process, quality, and delivery outcomes, not just the sale
  • Carry a personal revenue/quota target across assigned account(s) and own forecast accuracy
  • Own multi-level client relationships, support staff, supporting vendors, indirect customers, and jurisdiction as it pertains to rules, licensing, and compliance
  • Identify and pursue expansion, renewal, and cross-sell opportunities

Sales Process & Delivery Oversight:

  • Own the sales process from opportunity through contracting, including proposals and pricing within approved authority
  • Oversee handoff into design, installation, and maintenance, ensuring alignment between the account team and the account's engineering and technical staff
  • Own the quality of delivery, executing installation and service through the Systems Technician and technical staff
  • Monitor delivery performance against SLA and client expectations

Team Leadership:

  • Directly manage the Account Executive/Manager, Administrator, Project Manager/Coordinator, and Systems Technician on each account team
  • Set performance expectations and provide day-to-day coaching and direction
  • Recommend staffing and structure changes as accounts grow

Escalation & Coordination:

  • Serve as first point of escalation for client, delivery, or internal issues within assigned accounts
  • Escalate issues beyond this role's authority to the VP, Global & Strategic Accounts
  • Coordinate with peer Strategic Business Managers and the dedicated technical delivery team on consistent process and quality

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Direct supervision of the Account Executive/Account Manager, Administrator, Project Manager/Coordinator, and Systems Technician on each assigned account team

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field, previous high level and equivalent sales or service management, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years in strategic/enterprise account management, service, or sales leadership with a track record of carrying and meeting quota
  • Experience managing multi-site client relationships (20+ locations preferred) from sale through delivery
  • Experience directly managing a multi-disciplinary team; systems integration, security, or telecommunications industry experience preferred
  • Familiarity with CRM/ERP and project/service management systems; Driver's License required
  • Willingness to travel to client sites as required
