HealthCare Integration Specialist

Job Description

Position Overview:

Lead the technical integration of our AI solution with NHS systems and hospital IT infrastructure, ensuring seamless interoperability to enhance patient outcomes and service efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Integration Design & Implementation:

  • Design, develop, test, document and deploy integration solutions using HL7, DICOM, and FHIR standards
  • Create and maintain inbound and outbound HL7 interfaces
  • Develop APIs and RESTful services for broader interoperability with UK hospital electronic patient record systems
  • Configure, script and troubleshoot integrations ensuring seamless system interoperation
  • Implement NHS login and single sign-on capabilities
  • Create secure data pipelines between AI solutions and hospital systems
  • Design white-list filtering for interfaces and automate routine tasks through scripting

Technical Architecture & Documentation:

  • Provide High-Level and Low-Level technical design for integration solutions
  • Create solutions architecture and design documents
  • Document Integration specifications and provide technical support during deployments
  • Write and maintain technical procedures and documentation for application interfaces
  • Follow SNOMED or NICIP exam code notations for data consistency across all integrations
  • Present information flow and bi-directional, cross-platform communication requirements

Data Management & Standards:

  • Enable data driven transformation for accurate, timely data sharing throughout the clinical ecosystem
  • Perform XML/JSON message validation and data handling
  • Develop scripts supporting data transformation to/from various messaging definitions
  • Ensure expertise in HL7 message types (ORM, ADT, ORU, SIU)
  • Modify configuration files supporting product changes
  • Create reusable solutions applicable in different scenarios

Stakeholder Collaboration & Support:

  • Collaborate with solutions architects, clinicians and operations teams
  • Manage relationships with all stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of technical solutions
  • Interface with Business Analysts during software build, configuration and testing
  • Provide 3rd line support, breaking down complex problems into potential solutions
  • Escalate top priority, production-critical issues to appropriate stakeholders
  • Lead knowledge transfer sessions to improve overall team capabilities
  • Assist in supporting transition windows before handover to support team

Technical Support & Troubleshooting:

  • Provide support for HL7, DICOM and FHIR-based workflows
  • Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues during implementation
  • Document issues with resolutions and share with team members
  • Apply effective software and data troubleshooting skills
  • Take complete ownership for assigned tasks and timely inform project progress
  • Offer suggestions for improving internal process efficiency

Requirements:

Essential Experience:

  • 5+ years' experience in healthcare IT systems integration
  • Demonstrated experience integrating with NHS Digital services
  • Expert knowledge in HL7 based interfaces, XML and Data integration tools
  • Strong knowledge of FHIR, HL7, SNOMED CT, and other healthcare data standards
  • Experience with common UK EPR systems (e.g., Cerner, Epic, System C)
  • Proficiency in API development, web services, and secure data transmission
  • Experience with programming concepts to support custom implementations
  • Experience with Mirth integration engine preferred, knowledge of others

Technical Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills with ability to define problems effectively
  • Skilled in developing scripts for data transformation
  • Understanding of healthcare data security requirements and best practices
  • XML/JSON message validation and data handling experience
  • Effective software and data troubleshooting skills
  • Customer focus with close alignment to business objectives
