UI Designer

Design/User Experience | New York, NY | Full Time

Job Description

DailyBurn is one of the market leaders in fitness technology and we are expanding our team. One of the key things that has been a strength of DailyBurn is our graphic/web design and usability.  We’re a growing company and we care about every pixel, every color, every design element.

This position will report to the Art Director and will work closely with the Director of Product, other designers, and developers. Projects will touch a large portion of the DailyBurn brand and products. While the focus will be on mobile, tablet, web, and TV interface design, this position may also design other interactive products. We see this as an important part of the team and you will be involved in many product conversations.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Help create wireframes, user flows, and compelling interactions
  • Design of user interfaces for web, mobile & tv platforms
  • Conceptualize and create intuitive, engaging, and brand-consistent user interfaces for DailyBurn
  • Handle UI requests as delegated by Art Director and/or required by other departments

Here is what we are looking for:

  • 2+ years of design experience in a professional setting
  • Experience designing for mobile platforms
  • Deep proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (especially Photoshop) and other design tools
  • Experience working alongside designers and developers
  • An excellent sense of typography, layout, general design principles and attention to detail
  • The ability to translate designs for multiple platforms and devices
  • The ability to work with a team to iterate and build innovative fitness technologies
  • Someone who thrives in a deadline driven environment
  • The ability to keep cool while wearing many hats in a fast-paced, creative, and flexible environment

Here is what we don't want:

  • Someone who can only build block diagrams and flow charts without making real front end designs
  • Someone with a generic CS background (ie not just a Java and C++ background)

Optional, but great to have:

  • Experience designing tablet, gaming, and TV interfaces
  • Experience working with video technologies
  • Traditional graphic design experience
  • Experience with rapid prototyping
  • Interest in fitness and health (optional - but hey, we like to work out)

Candidate should be able to work in our New York City office. We are a small team, move fast, and love building products. If you are interested, we need to see a portfolio. If you don't have any prior work, we can't judge if you have the skills. So, please send a link to your portfolio and definitely include links to active websites or information about how we can download apps you’ve worked on.
