The Principal SW Engineer is an expert software engineer who has demonstrated experience designing software solutions for large complex systems and is capable of leading a team of engineers to execute the same. In this role, the successful candidate will work with various management and technical groups to design software solutions. The successful candidate must be able to clearly communicate designs, design features critical to the business; and, technical risks, to both management and technical staff. They will participate in solution implementations, both overseeing the work of others and making individual contributions.


  • Owning the development of new features and leading the design and implementation of gaming software

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders on defining requirements

  • Translates business requirements and functional specifications into physical program designs, code modules, stable application systems, and secure, scalable, and maintainable software solutions.

  • Function as technical lead, responsible for planning, estimating and coordinating software development. Be able to clearly communicate, both verbally and in writing, plans, work structure, schedules, project status or issues to engineering groups and/or management.

  • Write high quality code that is easy to maintain and test

  • Define patterns and best practices for the engineering team

  • Leads the development, validation, and execution of testing scenarios to proactively identify application errors & diagnose issues, and rapidly deploy code to address production issues.

  • Builds partnerships with internal customers, Engineering team, Product managers, senior management and vendors to ensure written code adheres to company architectural standards, design patterns, and technical specification and ensure the alignment, buy-in, and support of diverse project stakeholders.

  • Stay current with the latest development trends and standards, recommend best practices and share learning with the team.

  • Mentor and lead the software engineering team in creating software solutions and resolving design and implementation issues.

  • Passionate for continuous learning, experimenting and applying cutting edge technology and software paradigms

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


  • B.S. in Computer Science or related field; Master’s Degree preferred.

  • 10+ years of overall development experience (web, software, mobile) with Strong understanding of the Software design/architecture process.

  • Minimum two (2) years in a technical leadership role with or without direct reports.

  • Experience developing highly available, scalable distributed systems.

  • Experience with the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

  • Development and documentation of software designs and models.

  • Proficiency in coding, data structures, algorithms, and Strong experience leading design and implementation of robust and highly scalable web applications.

  • Experience with full stack development, preferably in one or more of OO programming languages.

  • Expertise with HTML and CSS. Experience with various, modern web frameworks

  • Working knowledge of one or more cloud based environments (e.g. AWS, Google Cloud, Azure)

  • Experience with unit testing & Test Driven Development (TDD)

  • Familiar with the development challenges inherent with highly scalable and available web applications

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a passion for debugging complex issues and mature code

  • Experience as a technical expert, leading a software engineering team as well as developing software individually

  • Experience mentoring junior engineers

  • Experience conducting and leading code reviews

  • Proven ability to take a leadership role in projects that span multiple teams with the ability to deliver in an agile environment.

  • Superb written and verbal communication skills. Able to influence and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences. Can clearly justify how software designs support project goals.

  • Curiosity and ability to learn new technologies and tool sets

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, complex technical environment.

  • "Self-starter" attitude and the ability to make decisions independently
