PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Director of Rehabilitation (DOR) is responsible for the overall direction of home health rehabilitation services. The Director of Rehabilitation establishes implements and evaluates goals and objectives for home health services that meet and promote the standards of quality and contribute to the total organization and philosophy. The Director of Rehabilitation shall have overall responsibility for coordination of rehabilitation services and shall be responsible for all activities relevant to the rehabilitation services furnished, including the development of personnel qualifications and the assignment of personnel.
Enhance development, growth, and evaluation of rehabilitation services throughout all agencies
Ensure operational success of the rehabilitation department by guiding the clinicians and personnel in effective management of resources, productivity, and assurance of appropriate coding and billing of therapy services.
Provide leadership in developing staff for advancement
Assure clinical excellence of the rehabilitation department by facilitation of program development.
Shall have sufficient background knowledge and expertise in clinical decision-making for the patient population of the home health agency to meet the needs of his/her patients and to contribute to Quality Management review and evaluation.
Measure and evaluate clinical outcomes, operational data and communicate results effectively.
Directs the evaluation and development of in-house therapy programs including equipment assessment and staffing ratios.
Set objectives, establish priorities, allocate resources and anticipate future requirements
Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, or Speech Language Pathology.
- Valid CA professional licensure, specific to area of specialty. Master’s Degree preferred.
- Maintains a current BLS (basic life support) for Healthcare Providers CPR / AED (cardio-pulmonary resuscitation / automated external defibrillator) certification.
Minimum of 3 years clinical rehabilitation experience.
Recent rehabilitation management experience within healthcare setting, home care environment preferred.
Demonstrated ability to direct professional administrative personnel.
Knowledge and expertise in clinical decision-making and Quality Management review and evaluation.
Ability to market and deal tactfully with customers and the community.
Has excellent observation, verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of business management, governmental regulations and Joint Commission standards.
