Curtis Contracting, INC (CCI) is a Class "A" contractor, prequalified with VDOT and has been in business since 1985. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the Asphalt Patch Crew
- Creates safe Maintenance of Traffic (M.O.T) control by setup and removal of traffic control devices including cones, message/arrow boards, temporary signage, etc.
- Transports crew and equipment to work sites operating large trucks, specialized motor vehicles and trailers
- Carry out all duties in line with CCI policies and procedures
- Must be able to work nights and weekends as required
- Responsible for the safety of the crew and quality of workmanship
Job Requirements:
- Must have 3 years experience of paving experience and working knowledge of all paving equipment
- Must be able to pass a drug screening
- Must practice safe work methods to remain accident and injury free
- Ability to recognize hazards inherent in routine and non-routine tasks and make adjustments to avoid loss, injury or accident
- Ability to cooperate and communicate written or verbally with co-workers and supervisor
- Oversee the daily work activities performed by the asphalt patch crew
- Distribute and discuss the schedule and equipment needed for the day with the crew
- Confirm with the plant operator about the scheduled loading times, type of material and tonnage totals
- Responsible for making/reviewing trucking schedules for the crew
- Determine tonnage and type of asphalt needed and notify the plants
- Communicate with proper authority about the paving project
- Shovel and rake asphalt
- Perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities of tools and equipment
- Ability to perform calculations for areas and volume
- Measures distances from grade stakes, drives stakes, checks grade from string line
- Must have safety knowledge
- Must have a valid drivers license (CDL Preferred)
