Facilities Manager (March 2024)

Operations | Hybrid in San Francisco, CA | Full Time | From $30.00 to $45.00 per hour

Job Description

As a Facilities Manager, you are a key member of our team responsible for the high-quality repair, maintenance, and oversight of Curo veterinary hospitals in the Bay Area. This role requires proficiency in general maintenance tasks and basic construction knowledge in a typical commercial office environment, as well as the ability to coordinate and supervise the work of sub-contractors and trade specialists for more complex repairs and new construction projects. You will report to the Senior Director of Construction.

We are a team of successful entrepreneurs and doctors using our own capital to improve the veterinary industry. One of our core focuses is to provide the best hospital facilities to our medical teams to best serve our clients. Curo today is a family of over 40 independent veterinary hospitals, many of which we have significantly renovated or built new facilities for since acquisition. They are highly profitable and well-positioned for growth with strong support from the ownership team. We are also rolling out an ambitious start-up hospital strategy, designing and constructing state-of-the-art veterinary facilities in the most desirable neighborhoods and communities on the West Coast.


As our Facilities Manager, you will:

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as minor plumbing, electrical work, painting, carpentry, and HVAC repairs and ensure the safety of all operating equipment within the facility
  • Receive, evaluate, and coordinate service maintenance requests from hospital management teams
  • Inspect facilities and equipment to evaluate the extent of service needed
  • Obtain bids from outside trades; assemble/analyze/submit bids to the VP of Real Estate
  • Coordinate outside contractors’ work, and inspect completed works for conformance to specs
  • Develop and/or maintain preventative maintenance schedule program for all buildings and equipment
  • Participate in occasional after-hours and emergency coverage as needed
    • Repair broken or leaking plumbing to avoid damage and restore full use of water
    • Troubleshoot electrical malfunctions and make the clinic safe until a vendor is able to assess and make repairs
    • Correct potential safety hazards to avoid injuries

Job Requirements:

  • Team player and have a minimum of 5 years hands-on experience in building maintenance
  • Available Monday-Friday, with emergency response and willingness to be on-call
  • Bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, able to lift a minimum of 50lbs
  • Must have a valid CA Driver’s License with a good driving record and a clean background check
  • Ability to use your own truck or van a plus

Skills and Knowledge Requirements:

  • Electrical, HVAC, plumbing and building repairs
  • Use of computers for record-keeping, email communications, and customer service practices
  • Knowledge of power and hand tools used in facilities maintenance
  • Ability to bring your own tools a plus
