We need a smart, innovative devops engineer to help us build scalable, resilient and responsive systems, working with our exceptional team based in San Francisco. The Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate has a extensive experience with SaaS platforms, primarily hosted on AWS infrastructure. You are able to strike the right balance between appropriate levels of process and security while still supporting an agile and fast paced development environment. You are used to working closely with application developers and enjoy participating in the architectural discussions. While you don’t enjoy it, you know that you are occasionally going to be summoned to respond to an after hours emergency. You are equally determined to ensure it does not happen often.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support of production infrastructure & services, including our

    • AWS Infrastructure including EC2, S3, IAM, Route53, Elasticache, Elastic Beanstalk, RedShift etc.

    • Rails Applications

    • Postgresql & Redis databases

  • Provide leadership to the team in mastering technologies, identifying and implementing worthwhile new technologies and improving our process.

  • Automation of configuration, management & deployment (Chef, Docker, etc).

  • Troubleshooting production and development issues, top to bottom, including network, hardware, software, and application.

  • Implementation of service monitoring and alerting.

  • CI/CD experience (support and planning)

  • Business continuity planning & testing.

  • Participate to 24/7 on-call rotation.

  • Documentation and internal education of new projects.

  • Identifying system performance & security risks and problems and developing and presenting solutions.

 

Skills & Experience:

  • You must have

    • Minimum 3 years of DevOps and system administration experience.

    • AWS cloud infrastructure (3+ years experience).

    • Experience configuring and supporting SaaS environments, provisioning resources, monitoring utilization and making adjustments in accordance with SOPs

    • Linux administration (Ubuntu, AWS AMI).

    • Experience with Docker & Kubernetes

    • Scripting utilizing BASH, Perl or Ruby.

    • Familiarity with New Relic, CloudWatch, PaperTrail, Elasticsearch, Rollbar, ELK or other monitoring tools

    • great social & communication skills—we act as a team, we celebrate successes together and we brainstorm our way together through challenges.

 

  • Additional credit for

    • Postgresql administration expertise. (Redis is a plus).

    • Experience supporting Rails applications

    • VMWARE setup and support experience

    • Vault (secrets handling technology) Experience

    • Jenkins Setup and support

    • Experience with git as a revision control tool, and familiarity with github.

    • Experience with other PaaS (Heroku, RedisGreen, Deis)
