The Challenge

Our product needs to let data science teams do several things easily and effectively, including:

  • Allowing them to upload and preview the data they’re working with

  • Letting them define a web interface and quality specifications through which contributors and machine intelligence will enhance their data via collecting, cleaning and labeling activities

  • Showing them the status and workflow of the data enrichment effort on its way to completion

 

The Position

CrowdFlower is looking to hire a full-time Interaction Designer (with Web Developer chops) to come join our in-house product team located in San Francisco’s Mission District.

As Interaction Designer (IxD) your primary role will be to translate our business needs and product requirements into user-focused and intuitive interfaces for a variety of web-based SaaS applications. You will work closely with our UX team to envision how our users experience our products, build and test both static and code-based prototypes as well as collaborate with engineers to bring interactions to life in a way that feels inspired and refined.

This position reports to the Director of Design at CrowdFlower.

 

Responsibilities

  • Help to define how users interact with interfaces for new and existing CrowdFlower products

  • Design mockups and prototypes using low-fidelity, hi-fidelity and code-based methods

  • Effectively communicate interactions and design ideas to team

  • Participate in defining and supporting the right user testing methodologies to validate and iterate new ideas, products and interactions when needed

  • Work closely and collaboratively with designers, product managers and engineers

  • Stay up to date with IxD trends

 

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of professional experience as an Interaction Designer

  • Experience using design software: Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator

  • Experience with prototyping software: InVision, Principle, Framer

  • HTML/CSS/JS knowledge

  • Strong understanding of usability design principles

  • Highly skilled craftsperson, passionate about UX and design details

  • Ability to bring simplicity and elegance to complex systems and data visualizations

  • Creating deliverables at varying levels of fidelity: from quickly communicating a concept, to final artwork and specifications

  • Track record of working in cross-functional teams

  • Have strong verbal and written skills

  • Experience with usability best practices
