Distribution Manager - Medical Devices

Manage Distribution Center processes for a leading, global medical device manufacturer in the northwestern Chicago suburbs, including warehousing, shipping & receiving, logistics, transportation, material handling, and managing multiple 3PL partners, as well as working with inventory, purchasing, supply chain and production.   

  • Utilize data from most recent distribution studies to help develop and implement the new Distribution Strategy.

  • Manage multiple 3PL partners in conjunction with vendors.

  • Ensure FDA, ISO and OSHA compliance.

  • Work with the SOP team to develop and optimize processes, including utilizing Lean & Six Sigma methodologies and techniques.

  • Coordinate with the Director of Operations on 3PL selection and contracts.

  • Work across multiple facilities and manage Warehouse, Logistics and Transportation supervisors, as well as ~50 material handlers.

  • Manage the Distribution Center facilities.

  • Manage, mentor and develop supervisors, staff and hourly personnel, including hiring/firing, performance reviews, and rewarding/disciplining employees.

  • Utilize SAP and WMS for data collection, scheduling, routing, tracking, and reporting

  • Occasional travel to visit satellite facilities, outside vendors, and 3PL sites.


  • BS/BA in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Business, or some other similar 4-year degree

  • 5+ years of experience in medical device production warehousing and distribution management, including experience with FDA compliance, as well as ISO and OSHA

  • MUST HAVE MEDICAL DEVICE and FDA, ISO & OSHA compliance experience

  • Experience with domestic and international 3PL’s and outside distribution networks

  • Experience with SAP and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)

  • Knowledgeable in Lean / Six Sigma processes, methodologies and techniques

  • Strong communication skills across all levels.
