About You:

If you believe that Design Thinking can help organizations become more innovative and creative, you love crafting the nitty gritty of learning programs, and you’re up for pushing your own perception of how learning can work inside of organizations, read on.

We’re looking for an instructional designer who will help us execute on a new vision for professional education. Tactically, that means you’ll redesign our current courses, create many new ones, and do that across a variety of platforms. It’s important that you are someone who thinks about the entire learning journey and which platform would serve learners best at different moments in time – akin to an artist who can work in film, paint, and prose and chooses the medium(s) that tells a particular story best. This means you understand curriculum design best practices, but you are not beholden to one way of teaching. You must be willing to consider, “What if there were no classroom? Or online component?” before you dive into designing a learning journey.

You also need to work fast and smart. You won’t have the luxury of four months to develop a single course; you’ll have to be nimble and strategic about how courses are designed. You need to think in ecosystem. Because we are focused on organizational change, all training needs to be designed in consideration of that larger context – e.g. who trainees report to, who they must successfully collaborate with, and how we can support them as they apply what we teach to their own world.

  • Design new courses and redesign our current ones leveraging a variety of learning platforms and teaching techniques.

  • Direct your own research and quickly ramp up on new topics in the human-centered design and leadership realms.

  • Combine L&D best practices with human-centered design techniques to create world-class learning experiences.

  • Tailor our curriculum for specific corporate training engagements.

  • Scale training for different contexts: 25 person public course versus self-guided learning for 10,000 people across a global company.

  • Develop assessments for learning programs.

  • Create bite-sized training for marketing (e.g. downloadable template or 2 minute video).

  • Support our teacher training program; create content that will strengthen our faculty’s ability to deliver excellent learning experiences and bring the curriculum you design to life.

  • Content marketing—Write about new course topics for blog, publications, marketing purposes.

We are excited about you because you have...

  • 3+ years experience designing curriculum in a fast-paced environment for a variety of learning programs: in-person/classroom-based, online, toolkits/templates, self-guided projects/lessons, cohorts, etc.

  • Extensive experience creating design thinking and leadership-related training.

  • Experience incorporating improv and other non-traditional teaching tools into learning experiences.

  • Voracious appetite for learning and pushing your own practice.

  • Entrepreneurial spirit; naturally self-directed and accountable.

  • You believe wholeheartedly that learning should be fun.

  • (bonus) Experience designing and launching products or services for users.

  • (bonus) Experience delivering classroom training.
