Senior SQA Engineer - Automation & Performance

We are seeking a Senior Software QA Engineer with strong expertise in both automation and manual testing, and performance testing for large-scale enterprise applications. The ideal candidate demonstrates exceptional analytical ability, attention to detail, and hands-on experience in building robust, maintainable automation frameworks using Playwright and Page Object Model (POM) architecture.
In this role, you’ll lead the efforts to automate functional and performance testing, ensuring reliability, scalability, and high-quality software releases. Hands-on manual testing will also be required from time to time to validate complex workflows or new features as per business requirements. You’ll collaborate closely with Engineering, Product, and DevOps teams to deliver solutions that align with business and architectural goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain automation frameworks using Playwright and POM principles for functional, regression, and end-to-end testing.
- Develop reusable, maintainable automated test suites integrated into CI/CD pipelines.
- Plan and execute performance and load tests using JMeter (or similar tools) to assess scalability, throughput, and system reliability.
- Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to analyze test results, identify bottlenecks, and optimize application performance.
- Perform manual and exploratory testing on critical paths or new functionalities when necessary to ensure complete coverage.
- Conduct database testing (SQL queries, data validation, stored procedures, and backend workflows).
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Drive continuous improvement in QA processes, tools, and automation best practices.
- Contribute to release readiness and support end-to-end quality initiatives across projects.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in Software Quality Assurance with a focus on automation and performance testing.
- 2+ years of hands-on automation experience with Playwright (JavaScript/TypeScript preferred).
- Proven ability to design and maintain scalable automation frameworks using Page Object Model (POM) architecture.
- Hands-on experience in performance testing using JMeter or equivalent tools (e.g., Gatling, k6).
- Exposure to manual testing, primarily for complex features or exploratory verification.
- Solid understanding of software architecture and quality principles that influence test strategy.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD integration, test execution pipelines, and automation strategy.
- Experience with SQL and database testing for data integrity and backend validation.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills with excellent attention to detail. Nice to Have
- Experience with API testing tools (Postman, REST Assured, etc.).
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
- Exposure to cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Knowledge of microservices and distributed architectures.
- Experience mentoring or guiding QA engineers on automation or performance testing.
