Senior Backend Engineer - SAP BTP (.NET Core)

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer with deep experience in SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) integration to help design and implement seamless data and process connectivity between our .NET Core–based enterprise solution and SAP systems.

This role requires a strong background in backend architecture, enterprise integration patterns, and data transformation between heterogeneous systems. The engineer will be responsible for building secure, scalable, and high-performance backend APIs and integration services that connect SAP S/4HANA, SAP BTP services, and non-SAP applications within our enterprise ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement integration architecture between .NET Core–based enterprise solutions and SAP (via BTP).
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs, middleware services, and data pipelines enabling real-time and batch synchronization between SAP and non-SAP systems.
• Utilize SAP Integration Suite, CPI, API Management, and Event Mesh for connecting cloud and on-prem systems.
• Work closely with SAP technical consultants to design and deploy integration flows (iFlows), APIs, and event-driven connections.
• Build microservices and data orchestration layers in .NET Core that consume SAP OData / REST APIs, IDocs, or BAPIs.
• Develop robust data transformation and mapping logic using LINQ, Entity Framework Core, and asynchronous data operations to process and merge data from SAP and external systems.
• Implement secure authentication and authorization flows using OAuth 2.0, SAML, and SAP IAS.
• Optimize performance, scalability, and reliability across distributed systems.
• Contribute to architectural decisions, design documentation, and technical reviews.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with SAP, front-end, DevOps, and business teams to ensure seamless end-to-end integration delivery.

Required Technical Skills:

Backend Development (.NET Core):

• Strong proficiency in C#, .NET 6+/.NET Core, and Web API development.
• Expertise in asynchronous programming, task parallelism, and microservice design patterns.
• Solid understanding of Entity Framework Core and LINQfor efficient data access and in-memory transformation:
  • LINQ is used extensively for filtering, joining, grouping, and mapping data between SAP payloads and internal data models.
  • Ability to write optimized LINQ queries and translate business logic into concise, maintainable data operations.
• Experience integrating .NET Core services with external APIs and data sources.
• Proficiency in SQL Server / PostgreSQL, stored procedures, and ORM tuning.

SAP BTP Integration Expertise:

• Hands-on experience of building SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP)components:
  • SAP Integration Suite / Cloud Integration (CPI)
  • SAP API Management
  • SAP Event Mesh
  • SAP Extension Suite
  • SAP Destination & Connectivity Services
• Experience integrating with SAP S/4HANA Cloud or On-Premusing:
  • OData, SOAP, RFC, IDoc, or BAPI interfaces.
  • Familiarity with SAP Cloud SDK and CAP (Cloud Application Programming) model for extension development.
  • Experience with SAP HANA Cloud Database and related data models.
  • Knowledge of SAP Workflow Service and Business Rules Service for process automation.

Integration & Cloud Expertise:

• Strong understanding of Enterprise Integration Patterns (EIP) and API-first architecture.
• Experience with event-driven systems, message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ, Azure Service Bus), and async data pipelines.
• Experience deploying and managing integrations in Azure, AWS, or SAP BTP Cloud Foundry environments.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
• Strong focus on API security, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and token-based authentication.

General Skills:

• Strong understanding of enterprise integration patterns (EIP).
• Experience with logging/monitoring frameworks (Serilog, ELK, Application Insights).
• Excellent debugging, performance tuning, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to write clear, maintainable, and testable code following SOLID principles.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• 6+ years of backend engineering experience, with at least 2 years in SAP integration projects (BTP or RISE).
• Proven track record in enterprise system integration between SAP and custom applications.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience handling complex data transformations.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Experience with SAP CAP Model for service development.
• Exposure to SAP Fiori or UI5 extensions (integration layer perspective).
• Knowledge of Business Process Automation using SAP Workflow or external workflow engines.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum development environments.
