Our Opportunity 

This position will be responsible for assisting the Director of Youth Development in guiding, developing and directing the Reentry to Resilience program. They will serve as a lead to provide ongoing support to Youth Success Coaches. This position will lead and direct the implementation of the Reentry to Resilience model and work towards meeting youth reentry goals. In addition, the Assistant Program Director will mentor and coach staff and assist Director of Youth Development with overall program administration.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensuring that the R2R model is implemented with the highest fidelity.

    Assisting Youth Success Coaches in coordinating education, career, prosocial, and health supports for youth transitioning from Youth Development Centers.

    Demonstrate the ability to conduct systematic reviews of data ensuring program effectiveness, consistent delivery of services, and achievement

  • of expected student and program outcomes.
  • Capable of identifying and executing the implementation of evidence based practices and programs designed to improve student and program outcomes.
  • Supporting Youth Success Coaches with their caseloads and Transition Intervention Plan implementation.
  • Assist the Youth Director of Development in leading the coordination of statewide and local partnerships to support youth and parent engagement opportunities /services, as needed.
  • Coordinate with Resource Development to develop strategic and diverse community partnerships designed to identify resources to enhance the services provided to students.
  • Overseeing and ensuring that youth case files are organized and stored in secure cabinet / office.
  • Interpret guidelines, policies, and procedures to Youth Success Coaches.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Youth Development to assure proper reporting to NCDPS.
  • Conduct check-in meetings with Youth Success Coaches, Chief Court Counselors, and YDC Court Counselors to assure clear communication, team building, and progress updates.
  • Assist in developing formal/informal partnerships with agencies, organizations, and school administration to assess needs and provide programs and services.
  • Participate in personal and professional staff development.
  • Perform other duties necessary for the successful operation of programs as assigned.
  • Ability to see, hear, speak and travel across State of North Carolina as needed to serve program case load.
  • Must be able to lift 20 lbs.

  • Computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Professional presentation skills with both large and small groups
  • Self-motivated with the ability to make independent decisions
  • A valid NC driver’s license

Required Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of education, human services, social work, counseling, criminal justice, public administration or management related field.
  • Effective organizational, management, and budgetary skills are necessary.
  • Sensitivity to and strong concern for the needs of youth and their families.
  • Prior experience in supervision and program management.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of working experience in one of these areas.
  • One year prior supervisory experience of social workers or other human services employees.
  • Preferred experience working with the adjudicated population.
  • Technologically proficient in all office technology systems including spread sheeting, work processing, email, Skype, and Facetime.
