Duration: 5 weeks (with the possibility of extension)
Rate: $200/day

Big Breakfast/CollegeHumor is seeking a freelance Tape Archivist and Media Manager with expert knowledge of LTO archive/unarchive workflows and basic editing skills to assist staff in locating asset filenames within LTO database, as well as restoring old projects from LTO tape, and performing basic edits before exporting new digital master files from restored projects.

This position is for a tape archivist and/or assistant editor with expert knowledge of video and audio codecs, Adobe Premiere, transcoding/up-resing, online editing, and LTO/archiving workflows. This is a freelance position lasting approximately 5 weeks, M-F 10am-6pm out of our West Hollywood office. The job may extend longer if the scope of work increases.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Content Management Team in identifying and documenting media assets used in past projects via search of LTO database
  • Unarchive and restore old projects from LTO
  • Create clean/textless Masters of old projects by removing graphic elements such as titles, bumpers and bugs, and applying blur filters when necessary
  • When required, replace music cues in Adobe Premiere projects, by searching our music library for new tracks, swapping out, and performing a basic audio mix
  • QC videos for technical glitches or errors
  • Track work progress and input metadata into organized spreadsheets
  • Assist with department related projects as required

Qualifications:

  • Required Expert Knowledge of: Adobe Premiere, LTO archive/unarchive workflows, video codec and digital deliverable specs
  • Ability to work quickly, efficiently and independently
  • Strong understanding of digital post production workflow
  • Great organizational skills (both with media management & personally)
  • Experience working with stock music / stock music licensing / sound mixing a plus
  • Interest in comedy a plus
  • Familiarity with CollegeHumor content a plus
  • Availability to 8 hour days out of our West Hollywood office, for minimum 5 weeks, or potentially longer if the job scope increases
