Sales Engineer

Sales | National - Remote | Full Time

Job Description

SALES ENGINEER

Location: National Remote- preference to Chattanooga, San Francisco Bay, Atlanta

Company

At CodeScience, Inc., we help companies build products for the Salesforce AppExchange. Founded in 2008, we were a founding member of the Salesforce Product Development Organization (PDO) program, and are the only company to achieve the Master Navigator PDO designation. Our clients’ success is rooted in CodeScience’s ability to support them through every stage of their lifecycle from ideation to deployment. We also believe in having fun while doing it.

Position

Sales Engineers are responsible for supporting Business Development Managers during the sales process and making sure that the delivery team is positioned for success. In this job, you'll work with small clients, large clients, genius developers, and a host of cuddly CodeScientists obsessed with helping our clients.  You will have the opportunity to demonstrate your Salesforce technical chops while also displaying familiarity with common web architecture themes. Besides talking with clients, you will also scope projects, do early designs for proposed solutions, and dabble in business modeling. Because the position straddles the business and technical realms, Sales Engineers at CodeScience are expected to keep a foot in each world.

Success Predictors

  • You've worked with big ERP systems and are ready to start delivering value quickly instead of taking part in a twenty body, three year, multi-million dollar experiment in corporate inefficiency

  • You're bored silly with deploying Salesforce CRM, but get excited about doing the custom stuff on Force.com

  • You've worked at one of our bigger competitors and are ready to go where work quality and employee happiness reign over the profit-at-any-cost paradigm

  • You have deployed an AppExchange product into a Salesforce org

  • You spot bugs, UI improvements, and better ways to present information on almost every website or software application you use

  • You raise issues quickly instead of sweeping them under the carpet

  • You are well practiced at delivering tough messages to clients

  • You are self motivated and break out in hives if things go unfinished

  • You know how to communicate with and motivate software developers

  • You care more about content than form, unless it's about UI design, then you care about elegance and powerful simplicity

  • You wake up in the morning thinking about how to make software better

  • You know that discovery begins with the earliest client conversations

  • You love spreadsheets more than peanut butter

  • You’ve built applications, managed project teams, and now you are starting to wonder about the dark side of the Force sales process

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Scope Force.com based software application projects and communicate that scope to clients, product managers, and developers

  • Prepare client presentations, supporting documents, and visual communication tools in collaboration with Business Development Managers

  • Configure declarative portions of applications in Force.com

  • Identify changes to project scope and prepare change orders if needed

  • Manage internal and external team members to best leverage their skills

  • Maintain CRM data to support the sales process and provide insight into opportunity status

  • Develop business justification for product development expenditures based on different client markets

  • Build relationships with business and technical leaders at partners, clients, and internally at CodeScience

Experience

Required

  • College degree - better yet, you left college because it was slowing you down

  • 3+ years of web application and software industry experience

  • 3+ years of development and admin experience with Salesforce

  • Completed and can describe multiple Salesforce CRM or Force.com implementations

  • Salesforce Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, or DEV 401 certification (bonus)

  • Demonstrated understanding of the sales process

  • Advanced communication skills - written, verbal, presentations

Preferred

  • Business process consulting experience

  • Delivered and managed agile projects

  • Analyzed and communicated financial business decisions

  • Designed and scoped large services engagements

  • Familiar with writing Statements of Work
