Electrical Engineer I

Location: Greenwood Village, CO-Hybrid Work Schedule

CLP Engineering (CLPE) is a full-service electric utility solutions engineering firm with more than twenty years’ experience in electrical utility system ownership, upgrades, maintenance and operations through our sister company, City Light & Power. CLPE offers a wide range of power system engineering services to investor-owned, municipal, cooperative, government, industrial, and commercial customers.

CLPE Electrical Engineers work on design, development, and maintenance of electrical distribution and substation systems. You'll be involved throughout the life cycle of a project from conception to completion. You'll learn to develop project concepts, and participate on project design, procurement support, construction support, commissioning, and extended operations and maintenance support.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in designing sub-transmission systems, substations, switching stations, and commercial/industrial power distribution systems.
  • Develop concept design alternatives, engineering calculations, analysis, and engineering estimates for small-scale system improvement projects for substations and distribution systems.
  • Assist Lead Engineers with major capital upgrade projects: site visits, engineering calculations, drawings, drafting, field inspections, technical report writing, etc.
  • Perform site surveys for new utility service requests, develop concept design alternatives and present the alternatives to CLPE management and the customer.
  • Create, update, and maintain GIS database for large-scale electrical distribution systems
  • Analyze electrical fault events, power quality issues, system loading scenarios and assist with implementing corrective actions.
  • Schedule and attend field walk-downs with our Customers to better understand and determine project requirements.
  • Create system model for large-scale power system and perform various power system analysis/studies.
  • Perform field take-offs/evaluations for estimate preparation.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • BS degree, Electrical Engineering, from an accredited university. Power systems coursework preferred.
  • Zero-two (0-2) years’ related work experience. Internship experience desired.
  • Familiar with power system analysis, distribution system modeling, and protective device coordination preferred.
  • Coursework or experience with engineering software (such as ETAP, SKM, or similar).
  • Be a Team Player with excellent oral and written communication skills.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be a US citizen.
  • You will be required to obtain Military Base Access Security Clearance.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.

Travel:

  • 20% to project sites outside CO

  • Salary range: $55,000-$75,000 based on experience plus eligible for participation in Short Term Incentive Plan.
