Construction Laborer (Site Support/Field Operations)
Location: Joint Base Lewis-McCord
CLP Engineering (CLPE) is seeking a talented Construction Laborer to join our team on site as we design and build microgrids.
Summary/Objective:
The Construction Laborer supports construction jobsite operations by performing assigned labor tasks in accordance with project requirements, safety standards, and applicable federal and contract regulations, including the Davis-Bacon Act. This position provides support for site preparation, material handling, and skilled trade activities, and is responsible for maintaining safe, organized, and efficient work areas. Duties are performed under the direction of site supervision and in compliance with established project procedures. This position does not perform trade work assigned to subcontractors, but instead focuses on site support, coordination, and operational tasks essential to overall project execution.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Site Preparation & General Labor
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized jobsite by removing debris and eliminating hazards
- Assist with site organization, setup, temporary installations, and breakdown activities
- Perform basic digging, backfilling, and material staging, and general labor tasks as directed
Material Handling & Site Logistics
- Load, unload, move, and position construction materials, tools, and equipment
- Coordinate and track deliveries and verify materials against delivery documentation
- Organize and distribute materials, packages, and equipment for field use
- Perform project-related errands such as material pickups, supply runs, and document delivery
Support of Skilled Trades & Field Operations
- Assist carpenters, electricians, laborers, and other trades with assigned tasks
- Assist with tool setup, material preparation, and work sequencing
- Provide day-to-day support to the Superintendent to help keep field operations moving efficiently
- Assist with basic site coordination needs, including access for visitors, vendors, and staff
Tools,Equipment & Vehicles
- Safely operate hand tools and power tools appropriate to assigned tasks
- Operate light equipment (e.g., small machinery) when trained and authorized
- Maintain small tools and equipment, including tracking condition and availability
- Support upkeep of company vehicles, including cleaning, fueling, and coordinating basic maintenance
Jobsite Facilities & Grounds Maintenance
- Maintain cleanliness and functionality of jobsite trailers, offices, restrooms, and shared spaces (interior and exterior)
- Set up and reconfigure office furniture, workstations, and meeting spacesPerform routine grounds maintenance, including debris removal, basic landscaping, and site appearance upkeep
- Operate lawn equipment such as zero-turn mowers and string trimmers as needed
- Maintain clean, accessible walkways, parking areas, and common use spaces
- Support setup, visibility, and upkeep of site signage (safety, directional, and project-related)
- Assist with stocking office supplies, PPE, and consumables, and managing waste and recycling
Site Organization & Inventory Control
- Maintain organized storage areas, connex boxes, and supply zones
- Assist with labeling, staging, and tracking materials not assigned to subcontractors
- Support general site organization to ensure efficient workflow and professional appearance
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all site-specific safety plans, EM 385-1-1 requirements, and applicable safety regulations
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
- Participate in safety briefings and immediately report unsafe conditions or incidents
Documentation (Limited / Field-Related)
- Complete basic field documentation related to assigned labor tasks, such as delivery sign-offs, safety attendance sheets, and timekeeping for personal hours
- Assist with site photos, daily logs, and simple field documentation as needed
General Expectations
- Follow instructions from site supervision and adapt to changing project needs
- Support overall project success through a team-first, hands-on approach
- Perform other labor-related duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills:
- Prior construction or labor experience preferred but not required
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting, bending, standing, and working outdoors
- Ability to follow direction from field leadership,and safety requirements
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Ability to assist with simple documentation, logs, and photo tracking
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
- Familiarity with platforms like Procore is a plus
Travel:
- Travel between project sites may be required on an as-needed basis.
Other Requirements:
- You must be a US Citizen or a Permanent Resident.
- You will be required to obtain Military Base Access Security Clearance.
- Valid driver’s license required with a record that meets the CLP Fleet Policy.
Benefits & Compensation:
- This is a part-time position with a minimum of 25-30 hours a week with possible additional hours up to 40 a week.
- This position falls under Davis Bacon and will be eligible for benefits under the Wage Determination.
- Hourly rate: $33.86
