Civil/Structural Engineer I

Greenwood Village, CO

The Civil/Structural Engineer will design, develop, and manage various power systems infrastructure projects, including substations, transmission lines, and distribution systems. We're constantly searching for talented Civil/Structural Engineers to join our diverse team of Professionals. Due to the nature of our work with the federal government, you must be a US citizen.

CLP Engineering (CLPE) is a full-service electric utility solutions engineering firm with more than twenty years’ experience in electrical utility system ownership, upgrades, maintenance and operations through our sister company, City Light & Power. CLPE offers a wide range of power system engineering services to investor-owned, municipal, cooperative, government, industrial, and commercial customers.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide engineering support for civil and structural designs for power systems infrastructure projects, including substations, transmission lines, and distribution systems.
  • Support senior engineering staff to develop detailed project drawings, details, and specifications.
  • Develop project requirements and technical specifications, review design and construction plans, and provide recommendations to improve project feasibility, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Perform conceptual and detailed calculations to support the engineering drawings, details, and specifications. Calculations may include drainage, concrete foundations, and steel superstructure.
  • Coordinate with other departments, project teams, and senior engineering staff on project deliverables and action items.
  • Support senior engineering staff by ensuring tasks and deliverables are completed in a timely manner.
  • Perform site visits to gather data for projects, execute inspections, and perform quality control checks.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and/or Structural Engineering from an accredited university.
  • 0-2 years of civil or structural engineering work experience.
  • Familiar with codes for concrete and steel design, as well as basic structural analysis.
  • Ability to read and interpret topography on engineering and survey documents.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam completion preferred.
  • Technical proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other design software preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with stakeholders, contractors, and regulatory agencies.

Travel:

  • Travel between job sites expected with 20-30% overnight travel expected.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance:

  • You must be a US citizen.
  • Ability to obtain Military Base Access Security Clearance is required for this position.
  • Valid driver’s license required with a record that meets the CLP Fleet Policy.

Benefits & Compensation:

  • We offer an excellent benefits package that includes medical insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, 401k with company contribution, paid time off and paid holidays.
  • Salary range: $60,000-$70,000 based on experience plus eligible for participation in Short Term Incentive Plan.
