Billing Manager

Location: Long Beach, CA

City Light & Power (CLP) is a company at the forefront of the modern-day electric utility industry. We are a Subcontractor for a major utility provider in Southern California. We are seeking a Billing Manager for a leadership role responsible for supervising Billing Specialists, managing workload and deliverables, and ensuring compliance with Southern California Edison (SCE) billing timelines.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and support a team of Billing Specialists responsible for processing service confirmations, auditing documentation, and submitting work orders.
  • Manage and update weekly billing status reports and disseminate to leadership and relevant departments.
  • Assign work within the billing team and monitor production to ensure deadlines and quality expectations are met.
  • Ensure SCE’s 30-day billing submission requirement (from construction completion to work order submission) is consistently met.
  • Lead weekly internal billing meetings to review workload, address issues, and identify process improvements.
  • Attend weekly manager meetings to report on department status, address operational issues, and communicate departmental needs.
  • Monitor the progress of service confirmations and change orders submitted via SCE’s Supplier Portal, ensuring timely resolution of any returned or delayed items.
  • Collaborate with the Field Team to ensure complete, accurate documentation is received and processed.
  • Coordinate with SCE contacts to resolve billing issues and maintain strong client communication.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, project management, or a minimum of three (3+) years of relevant billing or utility industry experience required.
  • Minimum of two (2+) years of supervisory or team leadership experience in a billing, accounting, or operations environment.
  • Strong knowledge of billing processes and documentation control; experience with SCE systems such as the Supplier Portal is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage deadlines in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

Schedule:

  • Monday - Friday: 6:00 am to 2:30 pm.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance:

  • You must be able to work in the US without sponsorship.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Hourly: $30.00 to $35.00 based on experience
