Job Title: System Administrator III/IV

Department: Federal Services

Job Purpose: Provide IT Systems support for cyber team at on-site Government location.

Job Description: Sys Admin team member supporting cyber range network operations and mission execution. The position

requires candidates to have excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and

resolve issues. The person will work in a dynamic team environment, interface with clients and Circadence staff. This is a permanent

full-time position working on-site at Dam Neck Naval activity. TS/SCI security clearance required.

• Systems Administrator will work directly with ISSOs by performing the key objectives noted below:

o System Security Configuration and Hardening:

 Implement and maintain secure configurations for operating systems, applications, and network devices

based on security standards (e.g., NIST, RMF, etc.)

 Apply patches, updates, and security fixes to mitigate vulnerabilities for local and distributed systems.

 Access Control and Identity Management:

 Manage user accounts, permissions, and roles to enforce the principle of least privilege.

 Configure and monitor authentication mechanisms (e.g., MFA, SSO) in coordination with ISSOs.

 Regularly review access logs and revoke unnecessary privileges with Security oversight.

o Monitoring and Incident Response:

 Deploy and manage security tools like intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), antivirus, and

SIEM solutions for Security staff.

 Monitor system logs and alerts for suspicious activities and report findings to ISSOs.

 Assist in incident response by isolating affected systems, collecting forensic data, and implementing

remediation steps under ISSO guidance.

 Vulnerability Management:

 Prioritize and remediate identified vulnerabilities in collaboration with ISSOs.

 Document and report remediation efforts to ensure compliance with security policies.

o Compliance and Policy Enforcement:

 Ensure systems adhere to organizational security policies and regulatory requirements (e.g., NIST, RMF,

etc.)

 Support ISSOs in audits by providing system documentation, logs, and evidence of compliance.

 Implement security controls aligned with frameworks like NIST 800-53 or RMF.

o Backup and Disaster Recovery:

 Maintain secure and encrypted backups to ensure data integrity and availability.

 Test disaster recovery plans to minimize downtime during security incidents.

 Coordinate with ISSOs to ensure backup processes meet security requirements.

o Network and Endpoint Security:

 Implement and assist with configuration of endpoint protection tools to secure system boundaries.

 Monitor systems for anomalies and report unauthorized access attempts.

 Collaborate with ISSOs to align network and system security measures with organizational standards.

Required Skills/Experience

• Active Directory Domain Administrator – Manage and maintain: Sites and Services, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy Objects,

Computer/User Objects, LDAP, Authentication protocols, AD Permission delegation using the least privilege methodology,

Dynamic/Static AD groups, as well as other Domain services in accordance with MS best practices and compliance.

• Cisco CCNA level networking

• Experience supporting system Authority to Operate (ATO) by adhering to the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process

to integrate security controls, privacy, and cyber supply chain risk management for cyber infrastructure.

• Validate Security controls are functioning as intended in accordance with NIST 800-x and RMF compliance requirements.

• Experience working with NTFS permissions and DFS name spaces for file sharing.

• Experience with current versions of Windows (e.g. Server 2016, 2019, 2022, Windows 10 & 11 Enterprise)

• Experience with administering MS Exchange (2016, 2019) on premise servers.

• Experience with current versions of RHEL (8, 9).

• Experience with designing and managing Hyper-V clusters.

• Experience with managing SQL Instances and Databases.

• Experience troubleshooting and remediating issues by reviewing system logs, etc.

• Experience with PKI and SSO implementation/infrastructure

• Experience with PowerShell, Python and/or other scripting languages.

• Experience with patch management technologies (e.g. SCCM/MECM, WSUS, Scripting, etc.)

• Experience with Vulnerability scanners such as Nessus.

• Experience with automated STIG check technologies such as SCAP scans and Evaluate-STIG.

• Experience with data backup and restore, such as Veeam Backup and Replication.

• Experience with VMware technologies.

• Experience with Ansible and automation is a plus.

• Experience with Atlassian Suite a plus (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, Crowd).

• CompTIA Security + Certification required.

• Must be located near Dam Neck, VA or be willing to relocate.

• US Citizen/US Resident required with active TS security clearance.
