Position Overview
The Maternal Health Coordinator supports daily operations of the Healthy Start Buffalo maternal health program, providing administrative coordination, participant engagement, intake and enrollment support, front-desk and clinic assistance, data quality support, and community outreach. The role works closely with Healthy Start staff, maternity clinical teams, and community partners to ensure smooth program operations, accurate documentation, and timely connection of families to services in alignment with HRSA requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Support daily operations of the Healthy Start Buffalo maternal health program, including administrative coordination and clinic support
Conduct participant intake, enrollment initiation, and follow-up for self and community referrals
Manage inbound and outbound participant communications related to scheduling, referrals, and engagement
Coordinate with Healthy Start care coordination staff and maternity clinical teams to support appropriate triage and service connection
Provide front-desk support as needed, including greeting participants, managing calls, and supporting clinic flow
Maintain accurate participant records and documentation across required systems (e.g., MEDENT and outreach tracking tools)
Support data quality and compliance activities related to HRSA reporting and partner submissions
Prepare and distribute program and educational materials as directed
Participate in community outreach events, tabling, and partner engagement activities
Attend meetings and provide administrative or documentation support as requested
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Human Services, Health Administration, Social Work, or a related field; or equivalent relevant experience
Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in a healthcare, maternal health, or community-based program setting
Experience with participant intake, enrollment, scheduling, referrals, or program coordination
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage participants and families respectfully and effectively
Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with MEDENT or similar electronic health record systems preferred
Familiarity with maternal and infant health services, community resources, and referral coordination
Ability to maintain accurate documentation and support data quality requirements for grant-funded programs
The working environment and physical requirements of the job include:
Work is performed indoors in a setting with conditioned air and artificial light. Travel to and work in offices or other environments is required.
In this position you will need an to communicate with customers, vendors, management, and other co-workers in person and over devices, sometimes with people who are agitated. Regular use of the telephone and e-mail for communication is essential. Sitting for extended periods is common. Must be able to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents. Lifting of up to 10 lbs. occasionally may be required. Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computer terminals, calculator, copiers, and FAX machines. Good reasoning ability is important. Able to understand and utilize management reports, memos, and other documents to conduct business.
