Warehouse Receiving Associate

Warehouse | Bannockburn, IL | Full Time | From $20.00 to $22.00 per hour

Position:

The Warehouse Receiving Associate is responsible for accurately receiving, inspecting, and documenting incoming shipments. This role ensures all products are properly accounted for, stored, and entered into the inventory system while maintaining a safe and organized work environment. May require overtime, early shifts, or weekends based on business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and unload incoming shipments from trucks and delivery vehicles
  • Verify shipment contents against purchase orders and packing slips
  • Inspect goods for damage, defects, or discrepancies and report issues promptly
  • Accurately enter received inventory into the warehouse management system
  • Label, tag, and store items in designated warehouse locations
  • Maintain organized receiving and storage areas
  • Communicate with purchasing, inventory, and warehouse teams regarding discrepancies or delays
  • Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and scanners (if certified)
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies
  • Assist with cycle counts and inventory audits as needed

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; some post-secondary education or training is a plus.
  • Previous warehouse or receiving experience preferred
  • Proficient in the use of material handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.).
  • Basic knowledge of inventory control systems and procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in material handling and inventory management.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy materials (up to 50 pounds) regularly.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and ability to follow workplace safety procedures.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with inventory systems

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS).
  • Experience with barcoding or RFID technologies.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
  • Occasional work in outdoor or cold storage areas.
